El Rio y Mar Resort

The resort have very good service to us.There so many service that we like in that resort like when we eat on the restaurant one man is playing a guitar and there are singers.The resort is nice also because it is quite and nice place to relax.The resort is nice because its near on mountains.they make my birthday very memorable in my life because there made a presentation in my birthday cake and my cake is delicious little bit sweet but it taste good.There so many plants and flowers it is colourful and nice in our sight.in our island hopping we see some corals on the sand and the water in the sea is clear.Also our bedroom is attractive to sleep. And thats all that i like the resort in coron,palawan thank you and good day.

Means of transportation going to the hotel is inconvenient, going through dirt road and boat ride to get to the hotel (aside from limited flights to the island). Facility is clean and scenic, offered tours to see coral reef, natural fish habitat and surrounding islands were fantastic but need to train guides better. Guides were nice but timid, they don't talk unless asked. Overall if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet vacation El Rio y Mar is a place to go, it can be paradise for scuba divers but not for people looking for night life.

I booked this hotel because it was given good remarks in almost all travel websites. I was impressed with marketing pictures and with a staff named "jen" who was very nice over the phone when I was doing enquiries from Singapore before I really booked it online. I visited Coron together with my BF. It was a tough month of searching for a nice place to bring him since it was his first time in the Philippines. As a Filipino myself, I havent visited Palawan too so it was a tough month of calling friends, checking websites and planning as to where to bring him. Of course, my main goal is for him to really enjoy and appreciate Philippines. It was a very good decision to book this hotel because of 3 things: 1. Location- If you are looking for a very relaxing place where you will really be close to nature in its finest then book this hotel. 2. Service- It was a pleasant experience all in all because of the nice staff there. They were very hospitable and sincerely friendly. Specially Marvin or Melvin who went with us for diving. 3. Room- I booked the Native Cabana and it was good. We were able to see the Casa room and it was even nicer. It was good that they let us wait there before our check-in. (One thing that you will like with them, they wont keep u waiting in uncomfortable places) The not so positive side is the high pricing for almost everything. Even for a single addtl tea in a day, we need to pay extra. And you need to rent a boat all the time to go to coron proper.

Sand beach is not worth swimming in. Seeweed and stones all over. Location is too remote from anything on Coron as the attractions are far away by boat and car and very costly compared to other resorts in Philippines. Resturant is not at all up to the standard of the price for such a resort. Menu card show a lot of things, however most of the courses not available due to missing base ingridients. Example, ordered a Pebber-steak with mashed potatoes. Ended up with a steak with rice, "sorry sir we dont have any potatoes" was stated when the plate was served... For 4 days, they did not have potatoes for fries or anything. On dessert menu, they had 4 dishes out of 6 with icecream, "sorry sir we dont have any icecream" for 4 days. No Internet for entire stay due to "cloudy weather"... Even though it´s stated that they have internet. Divetrip from resort cost for 2 persons was offered at 2,5 times the price compared with other dive shops in Coron town, and there you get 3 dives each incl gear. Rooms are nice and clean. However overall I will NOT recommend this resort.
