Hilton Garden Inn Columbia/Northeast

This property is under a major renovation and this was not listed on the website when I booked our stay. There is dust everywhere, you must enter through the make shift outdoor patio with your luggage to the folding table check in desk. When I made a comment about the hotel being under construction. I was told they could refund my money at no charge if I wanted to cancel...mind you we were there for my son's wedding and had just drove 3 hours to get there and needed to be at the rehearsal dinner 45 mins after our check in. When we returned to the hotel after dinner, the elevators were down and we had to take the stair to the 4th floor along with my 70 yr old mother-in-law. I understand thing happen, but if I would have known ahead of time, I would have not even booked at this hotel.

Location was convenient and staff was friendly

When we arrived the facility was under going remodeling so we had trouble finding the entrance. The elevator was not functioning so we had to climb four flights of stairs to reach our room. We could not get any compensation for this major inconvenience because we made the reservation through Booking.com.

They are doing construction so they were banging all day while we tried to take a nap. Then the next morning they woke us up banging in a Sunday.

The staff were kind.

They did not have bar or restaurant open except a few hours and not on weekend. There was drilling and construction going on 24/7 and no apologies were made for evening or early morning work disturbing guests.
