Egilsborg Guesthouse

Simple and easy overnight stay. Cheap stay for Reykjavik, but still value for money is not convincing at Eigilsborg. Location is good with a short distance to the city center. Would recommend it if you dont want a hostel dorm, and a hotel is too fancy for your stay.

We booked Guesthouse Egilsborg at the last minute for a couple of nights in Reykjavik. It is conveniently located in town and has excellent staff. There is an optional breakfast for Ikr 500. The room was clean and tidy with a comfy bed but it was small. We shared bathrooms with other rooms which were also clean and tidy. It was a comfortable place to stay and great to explore Reykjavik!

Etsimme hyvällä ja rauhallisella paikalla olevaa majapaikkaa ja tämä oli sellainen. Sopivan lyhyt kävelymatka bussiasemalle. Hostellin tiedot olivat kuitenkin vajavaiset: vaikka huone-esittelyissä hjuoneissa näytti olevan pyyhkeet, niistä joutui kuitenkin maksamaan extraa. Lisähintaa huoneelle tuli myös pankkikortilla maksettaessa. Nice and quiet place near Hlemmur bus station. Towels cost extra and when paying with credit card, you pay +5% extra too.

Expedia needs to review this place. Egilsborg should be listed and priced as a Hostel. Listed as "shared bath": 17 rooms, 50 guests - with THREE (3) Toilets and Two (2) showers. That is not a Guesthouse. We were charged $180 per night for a $50 per night hostel situation.

If you are looking for basic bed, basic sink and basic service and attitude for one night, this guesthouse will cover it. We stayed in guesthouse around the country, and pretty much everyone was much better than this one. It felt like you were staying in the bathroom of a gas station. Not worth the stay.

Well, maybe I am spoiled by hotels in the U.S.A, but this place was kind of shabby. I have never experienced a guesthouse before and there was only one toilet and one shower on each floor. With 6 rooms on the floor, it was a scramble for the facilities. Our room was never serviced in the 5 days we stayed here. Not my idea of nice for the expensive price. This was a last resort for us as everything else in town was full. The lady at the "desk" told us that folks will book rooms up to one year in advance this time of year.

Vi blev tilbudt et værelse på 12 kvm hvor man kun kunne stå oprejst i halvdelen af rummet fordi det var et loftslokale. Afløb fra bruser virkede ikke på etagen og der var ikke rent med utrolig slidte møbler. Efter lidt brok fik nogen andre værelset og vi fik en andet værelse. Hvis det var et vandrehjem til 300,- ville man acceptere det - men ikke til godt 900,-. Gebyr på betaling med kreditkort mødte vi her for første gang.

Fint lille sted. God beliggenhed. Afslappet stemning. Meget hjælpsom vært, som giver nyttige råd til videre færd på Island. Små, rene værelser. God til prisen, hvis man ikke forventer luksus. Fint udgangspunkt for et par dage i Reykjavik.

Grei standard for overnatting, ikke et rom/gjestehus å henge i. Som forventet i forhold til prisen. Fredlig beliggenhet og sentrumsnær. Maks to minutts gange til handlegaten, Laugavegur.

Et helt ok hotell, rimelig sentralt og med den standarden du betaler for. Er du uheldig å få rom i 3 etasje er det ikke rullegardiner og veldig lyst på natta. Kjempetrivelig betjening, hjelpsom og trivelig.
