AKS Hinitsa Bay

Really excellent hotel with good facilities at a beautiful location and right next to the best beach of the area. Very clean and big rooms. Note that it is a family hotel, so at peak season there are a lot of kids running around and the breakfast area becomes a huge playground. The soundproofing in the room is very good.

The hotel was in beautiful part had a fantastic beach and all the accommodations were very nice and plentiful. The view from the balcony amazing big size room except the beds could be a little softer.

All things being equal this Hotel was much better value than its sister hotel in Porto Heli, that would have cost appx double the price but which, was only about 5 mins by car. I say that on the basis that we visited AKS Port Heli & looked around. The food was not of a standard that one would expect from a hotel of this stature. The hotel was more like a ghost town at the beginning of our weeks stay but more guests arrived halfway through our vacation due to some sort of corporate event. We stayed on a B&B basis and on three occasions, had an evening meal at the restaurant. The choice was limited & the food was (for the most part) cold. On one occasion, my wife had to ask for her meal (I only had a small salad) to be heated up in a Microwave three times before we gave up. The manager offered us a free meal the next night which we accepted and was much, much better. It was hot, tasty & there was a greater variety. In fairness to the manager, he didn't charge us for the meal he had promised the night before however; I also had a meal & some drinks but when I went to pay for the additions, he also said there was no charge for anything. I came to the conclusion that the reason the quality improved somewhat was that our stay was at the end of season, just before the hotel closed down for about 3 months but we had a corporate event halfway through which made the overall stay seem a lot better because of the number of Humans around.

This has been the first time in my life that hotel staff would look at you in an angry manner, ignore you, and not greet you. The hotel overpromises and under delivers across the board. The food is below average (we found elastic bands in the burgers) the service is shocking (only exception is Dimitris at the main restaurant), the cleaning standards are significantly below average (we had to ask to have our bedding changed). I spent half of my time there waiting for the broken lifts to operate. The swimming pool is too small for the size of the hotel. The hotel ignored paying guests to accommodate a quick income influx from a pharmaceutical company, by closing down the central restaurant for lunch! Locals called the police when the beach party with live music for the pharma lasted until 2 in the morning... nightmare... The only good thing about it is the location (yet you need a car to get to Porto Heli or pay €20 return for taxis). Would I stay again... certainly NOT!
