Radisson Hotel Brussels Centre Midi

While the location is directly opposite Brussels Midi station, that is where the positives end. We chose this hotel for its proximity to our early morning trains, but the surrounding neighborhood felt entirely unsafe at night, with rampant public intoxication, fighting, and homelessness. The hotel itself is poorly marked and accessed through an confusing courtyard entrance. Upon arrival, it was clear the property is grossly understaffed. The receptionist, Mario, was cold, avoided eye contact, and showed zero hospitality. In contrast, the F&B staff were friendly and engaging. We were assigned a boiling hot room. Hoping it just needed time to cool, we left for lunch and sightseeing, keeping a third key card in the slot to keep the AC running. We returned three hours later to a sauna. Getting through to reception took three attempts. When Mario finally answered, he gave us a bizarre excuse about a motion sensor that turns off the AC (a flawed logic for a hotel room where guests sleep). He told us to wait 20 minutes. Nothing changed. After waiting 40 minutes, we called again. No answer. I went down to the lobby, where Mario immediately became defensive, complaining that he was too busy, had only started two weeks ago without a contract, and "didn't need this job." When I requested a room change, his attitude worsened. He refused to issue a new key until we packed everything and came back down. Once downstairs, he was curt, aggressive, and openly stated he had seven other AC complaints, yet refused to guarantee our new room would have functioning climate control. When I asked for the General Manager’s name, schedule, or business card, he flatly refused to cooperate and told us to check out if we weren't happy. Faced with pure unadulterated rage from a staff member just for expecting a working AC in a €240/night room, we took his advice. We canceled, got a refund, sat in the courtyard, and booked another hotel up the road. This wasn't my first stay here, but it will absolutely be my last. Being a franchised property is no excuse for a total lack of brand standards, professional etiquette, or basic customer relations. To the owner and GM: you need to nip this behavior in the bud before it completely ruins your reputation. Thank you, Mario, for opening my eyes to how far this Radisson has fallen.

We had two adjoining rooms and nicely located on the Courtyard side. This hotel is immediately across the road from the train station which is a blessing really, as Brussels itself and in particular the train station has deteriorated badly over the last 10 years - to a point whereby we did feel a little unsafe, so the hotel was ideally positioned to get away from the mess. The staff in the hotel were fantastic, and the stay went without hitch. Breakfast was great, and a late checkout meant we were able to simply walk across the road, and reconnect with the Eurostar to the UK. Bedrooms (both) were very comfortable, and absolutely no noise from the street. I have forgotten the name of the guy on reception, but he was extremely welcoming and reassuring.

Air con and fridge didn't work great, TV only had 2 channels, rooms quite basic and more 3 star

het is ok om na middernacht in te checken, gratis upgrade naar een superior kamer gekregen (door problemen met de bovenleiding tussen Aken en Brussel-Zuid arriveerde ik pas om 3u05 's morgens in het hotel), vriendelijke ontvangst bij in- en uitchecken, hotel tegenover het station Brussel-Zuid, ruime en stille kamer, aangename kamertemperatuur
