Travelodge by Wyndham McAlester

Hotel was in dark bad area. Soon as I checked in and paid, fire alarm started going off. Staff couldn’t get turned off but trying that instead of evacuating. Asked for cancellation and money back as staff was just stating it was false alarm before clearing facility of fire.

I'm not sure why this motel was rated as high as it was according to past reviews. First of all, as noted by others, the motel is very difficult to find, located behind a Lowe's with no signage visible from the highway. Upon entering the lobby, I noticed the entrance door needed a fresh coat of paint. Inside the lobby were several old torn chairs that appeared to be past their prime. On a positive note, the staff was very pleasant. My first impression upon entering the room was dated - older carpet, funky perfume/stale odor, outdated heating/ac system, and what appeared to be a bug squished on the ceiling. All night long I was disturbed by the upstairs guests walking around and slamming items on the floor. Overall, I would rank this motel as a budget motel - I would recommend avoiding this place.

We’ve stayed here several times on our way to Houston. Very comfortable for its price point. The mattress was a little softer than I prefer. However, the shower head was possibly the best I’ve encountered anywhere, with great water pressure. No breakfast served here (go to The Original Egg down the street!), so a coffee maker in the room would have been nice.

We drive to Texas from Wisconsin every year. This year we decided to go through Oklahoma instead of Arkansas. WE LOVED this hotel. We arrived after 18 hours of travel by car and literally, we all said WOAH! My husband has a disability with his leg so we always do accessibility rooms for the shower ease. This room was VERY spacious. 2 queen beds, a seating area, and nicely designed access to a sink, shower, and toilet. I also work in special education and so I wanted to make sure I pointed these things out for people who maybe in a wheelchair or also need a bit of extra assistance when not in their homes. **It is worth pointing out, we arrived in the middle of the night so it was harder for us to recognize. The hotel is directly behind the Walmart. Your GPS did not take you crazily to the middle of the parking lot.
