My husband and I recently visited Pecs and we were looking for a safe, clean, and quiet place to stay. Hotel Makar was EXACTLY that, and it was an unbeatable bargain!!! The staff was very courteous and accommodating - we had a reservation, but due to a flight delay, we got in a day late. I called the hotel reception and they were VERY accommodating; we didn't get charged extra for the night we missed. The facilities at the hotel are excellent - we were impressed to find an indoor racquet ball court and well-maintained indoor pool. Our room was private and cozy, and VERY clean. We also dined at the conveniently-located on-site restaurant several times - the food was delicious and the staff was very polite. Oh, and their breakfast buffet is probably the best in town, with LOTS of options (cereal, fresh pastries, eggs, yogurt, etc.) They even gave us home-made sandwiches for the road when we left, with authentic Hungarian kolbasz (salami). What other place does that?! Location-wise, the hotel is not very far from the city center (definitely a doable walk there and back). It is perfect for a relaxing, refreshing wellness visit or vacation stay. Overall, we felt like royalty at Hotel Makar, and we would definitely stay with them again.

Das Hotel hat im Superior Bereich attraktive Zimmer aufzuweisen, Schwimmbad und verschiedene Saunen ermöglichen die Entspannung nach der Arbeit. Leider ist das Hotel nicht sehr zentrumsnah und es ist aufwändig abends noch Essen zu gehen (Taxifahrt)

Ich habe ein Standard-Doppelzimmer gebucht und wurde dann ins 3-Sterne Hotel Makar verlegt. Gebucht hatte ich für das 4-Sterne Hotel. Das Zimmer war zwar sauber, es war kein Stuhl im Zimmer, nur eine zusätzl. Schlafcouch, das Bad war eng, die Toilette sehr tief. Bei Reklamation wurde mir gesagt, ich hätte das Standard-Zimmer gebucht und bekommen.Bei meinen vorherigen Buchungen im gleichen Hotel erhielt ich ein Zimmer im 4-Sterne Haus.

preiswertes Einzelzimmer gebucht. War unsauber, Bad roch bestialisch. Zimmer wurde am nächsten Tag auch nicht geputzt. Service mittelmäßig. Vielleicht sind die Zimmer im Neubau ja besser. Altbau nicht zu empfehlen. Rolladen defekt, ließen sich nicht schließen, Vorhänge decken nicht das ganze Fenster ab (Außengang zu den Zimmern geht aber direkt an Fenstern vorbei). Frühstücksbuffet nur Mittelmaß, Bedienung grüßt nicht und gibt einem das deutliche Gefühl, zu stören. Andererseits: Preis auf Niveau einer Jugendherberge (35,-€ pro Nacht inkl. Frühstück), insofern passt alles zusammen.

For anyone with business at Pécs University or the football stadium, this hotel is near perfect. Great staff, lovely pool (25-degree water!) with plenty of natural light, fine spread for breakfast, in-room WiFi, sauna, even tennis courts. Spacious rooms, too. And, for the price, a steal. But if you're just staying in the city centre, seeing the sights, then this is just that bit too far from the action.

Everything was fine, except for the cold pool.

The room was very comfortable aside from the dust bunnies under the bed. The hotel offered a lot more amenities than we realized when booking, for example, racquet ball courts, tennis, a pool and probably a bit more. But we weren't there for these features. The breakfasts were generally good but the fresh fruit looked a bit sad. Staff were very accommodating.

My wife and I spent two nights here for the first time last week. We booked a superior room in the new portion of the hotel. The room was very large, clean and well appointed, great bed! We also had a balconey. The breakfast buffet was really complete with many excellent choices. We did not use the pool or tennis facilities but they looked first rate. We did not have a car, and it is a mile or more walk to the downtown. We found the walk easy and a nice excuse for added exercise. But, this may not work for all. We may be in Pecs again next summer. If so, we will plan to stay here again.
