Muthu Raga Madeira Hotel

I had originally booked this hotel for myself and my cousin for a short 4-night trip. Unfortunately, I was denied boarding because my passport had less than 3 months’ validity remaining. With only 20 minutes before departure, we had to make a quick decision, and we agreed that my cousin should go ahead alone, even though he had never travelled solo before. Naturally, he was very stressed and disappointed, as this was a trip we had planned together for over a year. However, he told me that from the moment he arrived at the hotel, everything changed. The hotel staff were incredibly understanding and accommodating, especially with the change of booking name to my cousin. Their professionalism and kindness made a huge difference. Even though check-in wasn’t until 2:30 pm and he arrived around 11 am, they allowed him to store his luggage so he could relax and explore until his room was ready. He couldn’t stop praising the hotel — from the excellent location and delicious breakfast to the cleanliness, facilities, swimming pool, and beautiful views. Most importantly, he highlighted how friendly and supportive the staff were throughout his stay. What started as a very stressful and disappointing situation turned into a smooth and enjoyable solo trip, and this hotel played a major role in that. I’m very grateful for the experience they gave him and would absolutely recommend it

Hotel was very clean and room was good. Breakfast was great! Air conditioning.

There was a stale smell in the room because it was basement level so its best to ask for a higher level to get plenty of air circulation.

We were sick with chest infections from the day after we arrived (17th) April and the staff called a dr for us on the (19th). Then the staff called for a taxi to take our prescriptions to the pharmacy for us. We were sick for the whole week and didn’t see anything of Madeira which has made us so sad.

Everyone was wonderful and helpful.

Was een prima verblijf om onze vakantie te starten, goeie ligging en behulpzaam personeel. Wij zijn zelf niet echt hotelmensen dus ik kan mijn verblijf ook niet perfect scoren, maar dat is echt puur persoonlijke mening. Het is geen standje exclusief, maar zeker een verblijf waar je prima kan vertoeven!

De douche/bad combinatie voelt wat verouderd en mag wel verfrissing.

Large room, ocean view, full-sized bathtub, and decent Wi-Fi speed. Since we checked in during the afternoon, there were no issues with on-site parking. The reception staff was very friendly.

However, if this were a true 3-star hotel and 30% cheaper, it might be acceptable... As it stands, the hotel feels "tired" and is in dire need of renovation. I'm not sure how it's possible to make a standard breakfast (omelet, pastries) so tasteless, but the chef somehow managed it. Our room wasn't ready upon arrival; we had to wait 30 minutes past the official check-in time. But, we used that time to visit the nearby Pingo Doce Super Monumental, which has an excellent ready-to-eat section. Overall, it’s probably fine for a one-night stay (if you get a discount), but I wouldn't recommend it for a full vacation.
