Antica Corte dei Principi Charming Rooms

The biggest problem with this property is that we booked it from the Expedia website listing as a Hotel. It is not a hotel. It is an air bnb. It should be listed on Vrbo, not Expedia. It is a perfectly fine air bnb type accommodation. However, if you are expecting a hotel with a staff to man a front desk, bell service, or an elevator, forget it. If one stays on the top floors, dragging one’s luggage up the stone steps is difficult. The air conditioning is not really adequate. If you want an air bnb, this is a fine choice. If you want a hotel look elsewhere. The Expedia listing for this property should be removed and placed on Vrbo.

Die Lage im historischen Zentrum einer wunderschönen Stadt.

In unserem Zimmer, das nicht wie angegeben auf einen Innenhof sondern auf eine kleine Gasse blickte, war es bis 2 Uhr nachts sehr laut. Auch mit geschlossenen Fenstern und bei schlecht funktionnierender Klimaanlage war nicht an Schlaf zu denken. Gegen 5 Uhr die ersten Putzfahrzeuge, dann Müllabfuhr! Es gibt Zimmer nach hinten die ruhig sind. Das Frühstück war miserabel. Ich stelle überhaubt keine grossen Anforderungen, aber in Italien einen richtigen Kaffee zu bekommen sollte möglich sein, hier nicht. Eine Plörre aus einer Maschine mit Kaffepads, noch dazu nur entkoffeiiniert. Alles in einem winzigen Raum mit 6-7 Tischen mit viel Kitsch.

Lucca is an "all walking" zone inside the city. So being int he right location was important for me. This property is near the Piazza Bernardini which is great for taxi pickup as well as close to things like market, restaurants, bar. The property has a neat theme. The breakfast was nice and the lady helping was really cordial. She helped us navigate the cappuccino machine. We were coming from Pisa and they let us check in early which was really great.

The rooms are small (a lot like you would expect in Europe) and the bathroom is nice but the shower is very small. Neither I nor my husband could bend over in it. The wi-fi was off 2 of the 3 days we were there. The host reset the router for us on day 1 but she was out of town so on day 3 we could not check in to our flights or communicate with our offices. Being IN a walled city means you cannot depend on cellular so just be aware. Last thing: I cannot do stairs nor walk well. The first step to get in is high and you have 2 flights of stairs to get to the first floor. That was difficult for me.

Welcoming & friendly staff, lovely breakfast, comfortable bed. Spacious room. 10 mins walk to station.

The front rooms could be noisy from the street activity. It usually quieted down by 10:30-11

The location was fabulous. The welcome very warm. Great breakfast. Rooms were quirky and beautiful.

Tea was provided but no coffee. Bathroom on the small side. Anyone over average build would struggle in the shower.
