Ivy House Country Hotel

Hotel nice, food great room really nice.

The booking experience wasn't good, we spoke to reception and she was rude. The rest of the staff were really good.

Road down to it. Full of pot holes and why are the logs on the edges. I get you don't want people driving on the edge but alot had moved and we where trying to avoid hitting them . Sensors on car were going mad constantly beeping .

Very good property , food very good, very clean

The made up lane to the hotel was in very poor condition and caused damage to the underneath of my car

There are a few things that could have been better. I noticed a lot of dust under the radiator which is never good. There was a lot of noise - the extractor in bathroom very noisy but also when trying to get to sleep we could hear ambient noise from other room - water cistern filling etc. The pot holes on the road in were dreadful but one main thing - the evening manager was doing EVERYTHING. He was in and out of the bar doing lots of jobs at the same time and that did not convey a relaxed atmosphere for guests; to see him out of the corner of your eye every minute was not relaxing. Plus dogs everywhere - unhygienic and dangerous

The location for breakfast was nice. The spoon for the tea/coffee was dirty. I could not eat the breakfast I was served

Didn’t like the drive to the location, the dog Poo on the courtyard. The very dated cold room, or the very hard bed. I could hear the bathroom fan in the next room, all night long. I think I had 2-3 hours sleep all night.

Breakfast was very high quality. The ambience was superb. Stay at hotels quite a lot. And this one was right at the top of my list. Would definitely like to stay again soon.

If I was being picky the private driveway could do with a little work. But the accommodation more than covered any pickiness.
