"Disappointing"

4.0

So my friend was staying at this hotel and invited me to join her. I booked myself a room. The photos looked nice on the actual website, but when I got into my room...1st appearance looked ok, not bad, but when I was getting ready for bed, I noticed a lot of mould on the ceiling, lots of mould all over the shower curtains! The wallpaper was falling off. The toilet roll looked like it had been torn off (not a new roll). It was freezing at night. Cold came through the windows and curtains. There was a tiny radiator which I put to full blast. I had to wear extra layers in bed as the duvet was just a sheet with a thin blanket on top. The bed squeaked and moved every time I moved when trying to sleep. The traffic outside was so loud. Other than that, in the morning the staff were rather pleasant. Friendly and polite at breakfast. A very basic breakfast though. All in all this hotel is ok if you are staying briefly. My friend who stayed in a different room didn't mind it at all, so I guess it depends on the person.

"I should know better"

4.0

What is it with the French and 'budget hotels'? All the corridors look like corridors to cells in a police station (I've never been in one but from the TV...) and the rooms are just a little too cramped, the furniture a little too formica and veneer, the beds hard and unforgiving, the heating or ventilation rudimentary, the TV lacking in international stations and the sachets of shower gel too thin to be useful. OK - so I should know better, but in most other countries for what I paid I'd expect something more like a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge in the UK. So this criticism is more general than specific to the Hipotel. However to BE specific. The restaurant served up a limited menu - I chose the steak which was the most inedible piece of meat I've ever eaten. The abundance of fries didn't make up for the really diabolical 'steak'. I paid for Wifi (Not expensive, at €3.00 per 24 hours, but then found that having logged in on my phone, i was then unable to do so on my laptop or my iPad. SO I had to buy another access code for the laptop. Why not allow one code to be supported on more than one device? Or at least tell me when I bought the voucher so I could have just used it on the laptop. The shower head was broken so had to be hand held. Breakfast was underwhelming. The room was clean, though and receptionist courteous. Overall - overpriced for what you get I'd say - even at the budget end. But if you just want a bed for the night, close to the station - it's OK.

"Good location for transport"

6.0

Hotel area in general is a bit tattered, though lobby area is good. Rooms are moderately clean and otherwise Ok. Location for transport to central Paris. About 5 minute walk to the underground / train station (and buses). Staff at the desk very helpful and friendly and good English. Good local convenience store on the corner of the main road, but otherwise not much in the areas.

"what you save is not worth it"

4.0

First of all, the room was very tiny, the pictures are misleading, and there was no air conditioning. Not even an iron was in the room, so if you have wrinkle clothes, tough luck. I was on the 7th floor, a non smoking section, and it was always smelling cigarettes and who knows what else. I personally someone smoking (of course I told him it was a non smoking section but he didn't care). Breakfast was too expensive for what they serve. One receptionist was very rude to a friend who called but didn't have my room number.

"Just a place to lay your head"

4.0

It was not my first choice of hotels but I had toast a last minute decision. It was 20-25 min outside Paris by train. The information cente had trouble explaining where the hotel was because it is in a hard area to find. However, once you do find it...it is very close to the train station. The hotel was not very nice but the gentleman at checkin was very nice and spoke English as well. The room was small but the linens seemed clean and there was Wifi in the room that you had to pay extra for. I felt a bit secluded but it was ok I guess for one night. If you are wanting to be in Paris. I would not recommend this hotel. It's was bet difficult for a person that does not speak French to find.

"Not bad, quality service"

6.0

It was literally 2 minutes from a train station, and not too far from the city. Restaurant is attached, good food there, and quality service. Staff was overall nice, except a small instance when one staff member gave me a boxed juice during breakfast (since I was unaware my booking didn't include breakfast) and got yelled at by her boss for it. Clean room, small, but met our needs for four days.

"Hippo-NO!"

4.0

While you get what you pay for - especially in Paris; I was quite disappointed by the service. There was a issue with the toilet in my room - I was told someone would be right up, however no one came. The side panel of the bath flew right off as I was in the shower. If you are doing Paris on a dime it's okay for a night or so; but do bring your flip flops! And DO NOT spend money for the wi-fi as it DOES NOT WORK!

"Below Expectations"

4.0

Best, and arguably most valuable, part about this hotel is its proximity to the train station Joinville Le Pont. Otherwise, this is not a 4-star hotel. Plain and simple. Small room and outdated. Also, the television was inoperable. This is a 2-star hotel at best. Receptionists were very polite and helpful, however. Would I stay here again? No.
