We had two twin rooms in this Cosy small 2* family-run hotel with on-site public parking. Hospitable owners who provided an EXCELLENT Breakfast Buffet. They have recently taken over the business and are keen to please. Making the small terrace area in front as attractive as possible to rival the adjacent bar and the restaurant opposite. The location worked well for our travel itinerary but the location just south of a busy coastal town might not work for everyone. At first sight it would seem a quiet location in the countryside near the "Vaart" canal but the nearby mayor road is somewhat of an issue. The ensuite Bathroom is a little dated but very clean. The BEDS were comfortable but bedlinen could be updated.

LOCATION: the hotel is rather close to a busy EXPRESS road (4 lanes of incessant FAST traffic). In rooms at the back of the property one is constantly aware (day and night) of cars speeding along and noisily bouncing over gap with the canal-viaduct. NOT ideal for light sleepers/sensitive hearing. Having said that - during the daytime, the room at the front was equally noisy with local traffic (several big tractors and delivery lorries) and a rather noisy garden maintenance team in the property opposite. SOME suggestions for IMPROVEMENT: 1. The bottom SHEET was rather WORN and also ripped at the edges. Worn BED-LINEN could usefully be replaced with newer items. 2. Moreover, this well-used bottom sheet was directly on the bare matrass. Why not provide a MATRAS COVER as an in-between layer - that would make for a much nicer sleep-experience for guests. 3. The pillow was rather bulky. I know this is a personal choice but maybe you could offer both a thin and thick pillow for guests to make a choice.

We used this as a base for visiting nearby Bruges. It's in the country but near the main road to the coast and is easy to access, with lots of parking space. The owners are welcoming and friendly. It's only a short drive from Bruges, next to a lovely canal with avenues of trees. The bedrooms are a decent size with good bathrooms. We had everything that we needed.

The location is very close to the E34, there’s a lovely country drive to get to it, and is in a beautiful place next to the canal. There are restaurants adjacent. The rooms are homely, clean and silent overnight, apart from a welcome dawn chorus from the birds! Only 5 miles away (but a world away!) is Knokke-Heist, with its 10 mile sandy beach and amenities.

Nothing, it’s good value for money, the family live on site meaning it’s welcoming and well-looked after.

Had a great stay at the hotel De Vaart. A perfect location for our cycling break right on top of the Damme canal that links Brugge to Holland. Rudy and the team are fantastic hosts and we were made to feel very welcome. A great selection of beers on offer for post ride socialising and all very well priced. Breakfast was extensive and just what was needed to set you up for the day. The rooms are perfect for a cycling break and i had one of the best nights sleep i've had in a while add to that onsite secure cycle parking and what more can you ask for on a cycling break. I would defiantly stay again and would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family....5 stars all-round.
