Alpine View Lodge

Well appointed semi-rural apartment. Peaceful location on the edge of town. Good supply of firewood (although we didn't light the fire).

The view of Mt Roy. Open fire. Close to City Centre. Laundry facilities.

No spare pillows. Shower was a little tight.

The site is effectively a couple of small houses separated into a few rooms so 3-4 properties to rent on site in total. The location is on the edge of town so quiet and peaceful with some great views. The shared facilities were well set up and we had everything we needed.

We did walk into Wanaka, but it is quite a hike, which we didn't mind. Easy access if you have a car. To keep the floors clean the property ask that you use slippers rather than shoes, makes it cleaner for all guests but a little different.

It was a lovely spot with farmland views, good smart tv and nespresso coffee machine.

There were a few down sides, no shoes to be worn inside, you were given the option of some slides to wear, but they were very obviously well worn and I am not one for wearing someone elses shoes! The white hotel slippers would have been a much better option, luckily I have my own travel slipppers. The bed was like a slab of concrete with a mattress protector on it. I travel extensively for work and this was one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. There was nowhere to put my suitcase (no suitcase rack). So it had to go at the end of the bed, but the light switch for the bedroom was on the far side of the room so getting to it past my luggage was a mission. Lastly the curtains were terrible, just a thin layer of fabric, no lining, so the light came straight through in the morning. As someone who works for a curtain fabric company, this was not a good look. I will not stay here again.
