A wonderful experience in an exceptional hotel. The hotel is a noble house in the heart of the medieval city of Mdina, with the best views on the island. Excellent service at reception, in the rooms, and in the restaurant. Very friendly and professional. Highly recommended. Breakfast on the terrace is indescribable. Many thanks to all people working there.

Characterful charm. Historical building retaining features yet purposed to be an excellent hotel. Within the city walls and moments from the main city gate. Excellent courtyard lunch restaurant. We also dined there. That’s a first for us. Sane restaurant twice in a day. Tells a story. So many wonderful features and works of art and archaeology around and throughout the hotel. Panoramic views from the second floor restaurant. That’s the breakfast location. Don’t be fooled by breakfast being described as ‘continental’. A tower is brought to you, to add to and order extras. Get ready to roll out. Classy ambiance and top quality friendly and professional staff. Especially Aurora; first class hospitality award to you. The best hotel reception ever had was delivered by Xara Palace’s wonderful Aurora. That young lady is an absolute credit to you.

Character and central

Very little natural light to our upper floor of duplex Was offered a better room when we arrived but at an extra 100 euros

Stayed a few nights last week and found the hotel to be a beautiful location and well appointed and professionally run. Room 10 was just lovely as was the view of the surrounding countryside. The 3-tier continental breakfast was really nice and varied along with the Turmeric and ginger booster shot to set up for the day. My only negative comments would be that for the price of the room rate a cooked breakfast would have been €19 extra and should be included and that the staff although professional could have been more attentive and friendly as it’s the small things like forgetting things ordered at breakfast or just a simple good morning that goes a long way

Beautiful hotel, beautiful location but just lacking the personal touch. We were also surprised about some of the things that weren’t included in the price seeing as this is quite an expensive hotel, the continental breakfast is lovely but certain hot breakfasts e.g English cooked, pancakes, you are charged extra for. We loved Trattoria AD 1530 which is one of the restaurants at the hotel, the staff there were lovely. Mdina is also absolutely beautiful.

Nothing I didn't like.

What made this visit so special was the ease with which the hotel building and staff made welcome. Nothing was forced yet the personal attention was superb. The owners of the hotel have kept faith with the original palace rather than divide the building into commercial sections for maximum gain. The standard of food was remarkable. The room was more than comfortable.
