"Great place to stay."

10.0

The architecture of the place and the overall layout makes this a great place to stay if you are visiting Mt. Tamborine or the Gold Coast. Great view of the open area at the back of the home with the streams in the background. Magnificent high ceilings.

We had a great break at this place and would recommend it to people who want to get away from the "RAT RACE".

"Bonnie Scotland!"

6.0

Good location in Tambourine. Hosts are very 'hands off', after check in we had no further contact with them, but there was a bell should we have needed them. If you like Scottish paraphanalia then this is the place for you. Stonehaven has a very strong Scottish theme from 'piped music' or arrival, to full sized statues in highland dress and armour. Silk flower displays abound. Pictures, soft furnishing, plates and cutlery tell you the owner is proud of her heritage. Being from the UK, I was surprised that as a guest house there was no breakfast offering of any kind. There is a toaster and microwave in the guest lounge for your use. There is a small fridge in the bedroom. A kettle, tea and instant coffee sachets, glasses and mugs are provided in the bedroom. The house is very large and of timber construction, so the interior is very warm. There is air con in the bedroom, which is essential. With the construction there are lots of internal beams - so be prepared for cobwebs and dust on all ledges. The bedrooms are large with comfortable bed and all essential items. The bathroom has a corner spa bath and an over bath shower. The property sits in a very large grassed area, surrounded by trees and a stream on one boundary. There are various tables and hard chairs around this space for your use. There is a large dvd collection for guests and you can purchased bottles of wine and beer from the hosts. The best place to eat is The Three Pigs - food and service are excellent.

"Lovely 'room only' accommodation with a difference"

10.0

If you are just after a room to stay on Mt Tamborine, Stonehaven offers a Scottish Inn feel complete with a comfy room, a warm and inviting common living area and a nice garden to look out over or enjoy a twilight glass of wine. The rooms seem to have an individual character and name and ours had 2 comfy recliner chairs with views over the rear garden and a great spa bath. The attic ceiling gave the room a nice feel and the pictures of Scottish castles on the walls paid tribute to the Scottish character of the Guesthouse. There was coffee making facilities and a small fridge in our room, but if you wanted to use a toaster or microwave, these were available in the common living room on the ground floor. Although we didn't use this room during our 1 night stay, it would be very cosy in front of the fireplace on a winter's evening and may even be a good place to meet some other guests. Armoured suits and a lochness statue completed the Scottishness of this room.

"Great touch of Scotland in Qld"

10.0

Hospitable owners, grand style of the manor, wonderful, large scale timbers all in the Qld hinterland. Convenient to walk to town and to explore the towns in the Tambourine area. Easily accessible to the Gold Coast and seems a world away! The creek at the bottom of the yard makes for a pleasant walk, or to enjoy your breakfast, or a quiet drink at the end of a day exploring.

"Lovely Garden but too close to road."

6.0

The hotel's grounds are lovely and well manicured. However, the hotel is too close to the road. You can hear cars well into the night. The rooms are spacious, but a little basic. Not the most comfortable bed in the world. The water in the bath comes out a little green. I assume it's reclaimed rainwater ( I hope so at least). There isn't a whole lot to do at Mt. Tambourine. The restaurants are extremely average (and downright bad in some cases). So, only come to Mt. Tambourine if you want to chill. Lot's of places to have nice picnics (including the grounds of the hotel)
