Falcon Crest Guest House

My husband and I needed a bed for a one-night stopover in Edinburgh. Falcon Crest offered everything we needed: simple clean accommodation, friendly service, quiet location with easy access to the city. Would recommend for business travellers.

My room was quite run down as was the bathroom. The owners were very nice but the room and location was lacking.

It was a pleasing place to stay, & was easy to get to & from Edinburgh city centre

Warm friendly welcome, no dour Scots here (if they exist) and always enquired after your comfort and your day. Nice family with spotlessly clean accommodation, complimentary tea and coffee available in the room and immaculate bathroom and toilet facilities. When I book to go again I will request lower floor accommodation as after several heart attacks I found the stairs a wee challenge. However they carried my cases up and treat me superbly throughout my stay.

They cancel my room i did not get there until the next day because my flight was canceled because of storms they booked my room out the same day i was to arrive and took 39 .00lbs out of my account which i want back so you people do something .

Absolutely no frills but the family running it were very helpful. You get what you pay for so perfect for a super cheap room close enough to the city centre. Would stay again.

We stayed in an attic room with 2 single beds and shared a bathroom. The room was very clean. It was warm though and there was little air circulation. There was no common area or desk in the room. There was an old TV with cable but it was awkward to watch. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Bus was conveniently located.

This was the most affordable pet friendly hotel that was available in Edinburgh when we booked about a month in advance. It's in a residential area so it's quiet and street parking is free, but you should be aware that in the evening when everyone is home from work, parking is limited and you may have to walk a block or two. I was not really privy to what a guesthouse was, but it is someone's home... in case there are others out there that don't know. I really wasn't sure if I was supposed to go right in, ring the doorbell, or knock. I did a combination since there were two doors and the second was locked. The owners are very very pleasant. They're warm, welcoming, accommodating, and friendly without being overbearing or over-involved. They truly were a delight. They were perfectly fine with our large dog staying with us and there weren't any problems. The room was clean overall but the bathroom was in a state of disrepair. Like many UK bathrooms, the ventilation was poor so it seemed to be an ongoing battle with the damp and moisture. The flooring was wavy and coming up in places and their seemed to be some issues battling mold on the caulking. We had a room with an en suite but others have shared toilet and shower facilities, I'm not sure what those are like. I suppose the only REAL Complaint I had was the bed. It was so uncomfortable. You could feel every spring. Luckily we'd been camping and just brought our sleep pads in and put them under the sheets.

really friendly staff and clean room, decor a little dated but just done exactly what we needed. Would recommend and if I ever go back I will use this place again.

Please beware that breakfast is served from 8am to 8.30am and if you change of mind or sleep in then you will still be charged for it if you are the only guest, plus the TV was ancient, the bed was rock hard and I had to share a toilet and bath with another guest. Very disappointing.
