The Cross Keys Hotel

Lovely old hotel in the middle of the village. I called in & asked if I could drop off heavy rucksack & the proprietor Susan said I could check in early. She was very nice to chat with & so helpful. Comfy room & bed, good shower. Everything I needed. Big breakfast. I had a great walk down to Kenmure Castle - fascinating, spooky place in beautiful surroundings (see my photo). Could have very happily stayed for a week!

I would have gone for a cheaper place, because I just needed a basic place, but this was available and given how much I enjoyed staying, it was more than worth it & have paid more & had horrible stays in other places in the past!

Breakfast was fantastic, home cooked Scottish breakfast with a warm smile.

Hotel was in need of renovation Room was small for the price Bar and evening meals were not available

no food on service or breakfast on offer, tele was to small.

The hotel is comfortable and homely. The beds were comfortable so we slept well. The breakfast was excellent too. The hotel is welcoming with charm and a good location for exploring the area.

It was quite warm and attempts to open the windows were tricky.
