"No need to go. Plenty of much better place in Quebec"

4.0

Definitely not the best in Quebec. The staff was friendly, but I wondered where the manager was. Aside from the view, the deluxe room needs to be renovated. There was no choice at the restaurant—only one menu. (By the way, the food was good, but there was still no variety.) The “pool” is basically a large bathtub; you really can’t call it a proper pool. The selection at the bar is also very limited. You better have a 4x4 to get there during winter.

"Great location but more like a hostel than a hotel."

6.0

We stayed at this Auberge in September 2024 for a large family wedding. Most of us are experienced travellers and some of us were apprehensive about the lack of amenities and level of comfort, especially as the cost per night was quite high. I have to say that the setting and the views are absolutely spectacular. The photos truly don’t do the view of the Saguenay Fjord justice. A morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine on the decks overlooking the fjord is an experience not to be missed! Speaking of photos…Please don’t be fooled by the photos of the accommodations that are on their website. They’ve done a great job of making the rooms look rustic and charming. But the reality is quite different. I’m generally not terribly fussy about where I sleep. I’m a military veteran and I’ve slept in many “rough” places. Virtually every room had the same issues with the smell of mildew, and were terribly dusty. Likely the curtains, area rugs and the bed covers needed a good sanitizing wash. We were not expecting to have air conditioning, and didn’t really need it, as we had to sleep with the curtains pushed away from the bed, and with the casement windows wide open. The nighttime temperatures dropped down to zero. Most of our large family group immediately started suffering from allergies, with two members having asthma attacks. On their website they’ve added a photo of a luxurious walk in shower. I never saw this bathroom! It might have been in the bridal suite! The remainder of the showers were all 2 x 2 acrylic enclosures. Clean, but quite tiny as were the bathrooms themselves. Definitely set up for one person at a time. The auberge’s main building is nicely set up, but is pretty austere. Not much there except for a nice little gift shop. As for food, while they refer to it as a ‘restaurant’, lower any expectations you might have for meals. They provide a basic breakfast, kind of like you would expect in one of the chain hotels, like Comfort Inn, Days Inn etc. Breakfast is not included. They charged a flat rate of $25. There is a bar onsite, but it isn’t open often. You might want to bring in your own! We were not offered a lunch. That may have been because we had a late afternoon wedding. If you want to eat regular meals, you’ll have to leave the property for a 30 minute drive back to Saguenay/Chicoutimi. On the subject of driving, the auberge property is about 10 km (6 mile) off the highway. The in-road is gravel and if you are not familiar with wash boarding, I suggest you prepare yourself for a very bumpy ride. Wash boarding can and will bounce you into the ditch, no matter how good a driver you think you are! I do not recommend you attempt this with a low riding sports car! The place is run by a very nice Belgian family and while they are doing the best they can, they are understaffed and unfortunately it shows. While we enjoyed

"Mediocrity with a view"

6.0

I guess the best way to approach this location is with low expectations. Only then will one not be very disappointed. The photo depictions online and the lofty room titles (Deluxe? Come on!) are only so much puffery. An elegant lodge this sure isn’t. But the view…ah the view…truly extraordinary and redeeming, up to a point. It is probably the best view in all the Saguenay area. Avoid the urge to take up the full meal plan though. The breakfast is low end motel level, and the other meals are nothing to write home about, although the abundant flies one competes with seemed to be pleased with them. These meals are way, way overpriced. You will have already paid for the view with the overpriced (for the quality) room, so avoid shelling out even more - you will regret it. Once you navigate the washboard road in you may feel trapped, but there are far greener pastures for meals elsewhere close by.

"unforgettable experience!"

10.0

Cap au Leste is an absolute gem! The location is stunning, with breathtaking views that will leave you in awe. 🤩 The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, even though we don’t speak French, they made us feel right at home. The dinner was fantastic, with delicious food that perfectly complemented the beautiful surroundings.

"Amazing staff"

10.0

Beautiful place with so much potential. Beautiful views and accommodations. Kim, Anais and Thomas are the real reason for the 5 stars. Work is needed here but these 3 made our experience extra special. The resort is lucky to have them! They go above and beyond for the guests, working in all areas of the venue. We will not forget them!

"TERRIBLE service. DO NOT GO THERE."

2.0

It's the first time I'm taking the time to write an hotel review although I am a very well travelled individual. DO NOT GO THERE. The worst service at all. The staff was extremely RUDE, they are there to make money and not provide any pleasant service. The nights we ate there, the food was really not good and the service was the worst. No salt and pepper on the table, bread coming after the appetizer has been served, no water, not asking for if we wanted beverages. No music and understaffed. The chef was unpleasant and verbally agressive, I must say that the view was beautiful, but it's not worth staying there for it.

"Great stay in remote area "

8.0

We had a great few days at Cap au Leste. Our little chalet was charming, providing enough space whilst making you feel close to nature. The views from the chalet and the main building are spectacular and so were the hikes we did on site to the light house. The team were really friendly and accommodating, the food was good, though more on the heavy and creamy side which we didn’t mind as it was already getting quite cold outside. They have a spa with sauna and pool which you can book for several hours to yourselves. We can definitely recommend enjoying the sauna and the view over the fjord from the sauna after long hikes in the cold.
