Baycrest Thermal Lodge

The property is nice ands the room comfortable. The location is good with a short walk into the center. Our room had a small balcony with a nice view of the lake.

Our room had a hot tub that did not work. I messaged management of the issue the first day of our stay and never received a reply, and the hot tub was not fixed.

Lovely room, in a great location and nice to have a view of Lake Taupo. Easy check-in process. Tastefully decorated and clean.

Quite a long walk from restaurants and town centre

The room was large and the location was great. Free parking was nice and a thermal tub was a nice feature with the private patio.

The thermal tub had some debris in it and the surface could use a makeover.

The staff really make Baycrest - everyone that we dealt with were incredibly kind, friendly & helpful. The rooms were clean, spacious, felt private & had nice views, even though you weren't right on the lake (which was also nice, because it was quieter than being on the main road). The pool was also really nice. It's a small area though, so nicer to go when there's no one else around. Complimentary off street parking was also greatly appreciated. And the kitchenette facilities were well-equipped.

The place is very dated, and needs a lot of work, especially if they want to keep charging what they are charging per night. For the price that we paid, we wouldn't have expected a rather sizable half-patched hole in our ceiling (I can only image what caused it...), and a big crack in the floor of our shower.. The bed felt well-used and in need of replacement also.
