Bit more like a b&b than a hotel. Good location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Just a note to add: we were charged an additional 250rubles per person for a "registration fee" on arrival despite having prepaid with the website. There was no clear mention of this on the site.

Although there are many steps (108 if you are in the last floor), but the service was excellent and the room was very comfortable and clean. We arrived early in the morning and despite that got out room and even breakfast (although we just arrived). The receptionists were great. Very helpful, respond to every request (such as eating breakfast very early because of our flight). The location is the BEST, just behind Kazan Cathedral' 5 min walk from Nevsky prospect.

Hotel is on the 4th floor of a building with no elevator. Worst than Motel 6.

We liked it very much. Good combination of price and quality.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean and in a safe neighbourhood, just 10 minutes walk from The Hermitage and 15 minutes to the Mariinsky Theatre. The staff were very helpful. The hotel is on the 4th floor and there is no elevator, but unless you have mobility issues or a tonne of luggage this is not really a problem. My room was quiet and with plenty of light. I would stay there again.

It was 6th time to St Petersburg and second in Hotel Grifon. And for sure will stay there in the following visits too! Excellent location, very friendly service and cozy atmposphere. I was there with a friend for New Years Eve, which is a very celebration in Russia. The hotel organized a small celebration and we ended up chatting quite a bit with one of the ladies working there at the reception. She gave us not only good tips on where to spend the rest of the evening, but also told us quite a lot about life in Russia and in Soviet times. On the negative side there isnt much really. Only thing to mention is that there is no elevator and doors can be a bit heavy to open.

Great location 15 min walk to most attractions. There is a nice restaurant, Leica, a few doors away from the hotel. Try chicken liver with mash and the traditional drink ,Mors, in there. Be prepared to carry your case up four floors as there is no lift. Breakfast isn't amazing, but just ok. Be prepared for microwave sussages or eggs. The rooms are warm, very dated, fairly clean. Don't miss Marinsky theatre. We watched a fabulous ballet for £25, for two people. On top of the Saviour of Blood cathedral, Summer garden and Naval cathedral are two other places that you shouldn't miss.

Located right off the main route through the city, close to plenty of shopping, eateries, and sites to visit. Friendly and helpful staff that caters to their guests and makes you feel welcome and gets you headed in the right direction. Older rooms that could use some updates and is several flight up steps in an older building. Good place for the Price.

The hotel did not have consistent working AC. The stairs make it very difficult to manage up and down with luggage and have a very bad smell. The staff was friendly and serviceable in particular one young lady who was in training. Her name is Elizabeta "Liz" and she more than made up for the hotel shortcomings. She was very attentive, pleasant, professional and really went out of her way for the guests. Definitely a very hard working young lady.

Good central location to the tourist spots. But, that is about where the good news ends. Overall the staff was friendly. But, the young girl working when we got there was either not a happy person, or simply did not like me and my Son. Either way it was not comfortable. The Hotel is on the 5th floor with no elevator. Let me say that again, "no elevator". If you are a tri-athelete, you are good. Carrying all your luggage up 93 steps in your mid 50's? Well, you get the picture. But, I highly suggest experiencing that part of Russia. Alot of History, alot of tradition.
