Bardøla Fjelltun

We wanted a base which allowed for self-catering while having the facilities of a hotel. This was perfect for that, with a great studio / kitchenette set up and good access to ski slopes with the SkiBus. If you know this area already, it’s perfect. We would have appreciated a bit more staff presence / help about renting skis and where to get started, but generally a good experience. Definitely can’t fault the facilities which were great.

Would have liked better informed and available staff for advice for newcomers like us, but this is a minor point and didn’t detract from our stay !

Litt lite parkering

Lovely and spacious apartment in a good location. Fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms (one with bunkbeds for kids), two bathrooms. Nice restaurant downstairs as well as bakery and on-the-go coffee, etc. Walkable to Slatta Ski school.

Safety concern: a stranger was issued a key to our children's room We’ve stayed in Geilo twice before at the group’s other property, Highland Lodge, and love it. We booked Bardøla for a family ski holiday this February. One evening, while our two young boys (4 & 7) were getting into bed, a stranger entered their room (connected to our room and with its own entrance). The hotel had issued him a valid room key due to a communication error with their sister hotel. The manager, Rolf, responded quickly the following morning. He was sincere, identified the cause, and met with his department heads. I appreciated his manner and believe he genuinely cares. What concerned me most is what I learned afterwards: the rooms cannot be locked from the inside - no deadbolt, chain, or thumb turn - because they are privately owned apartments. This means once a key is issued, whether correctly or not, there is nothing to prevent entry. This is marketed and priced as a hotel on all major booking platforms, but it cannot provide the basic room security families would expect from a hotel. We still enjoyed Geilo and the skiing was wonderful. But if you’re booking with children, I’d recommend asking about room security before you arrive. This simply should not happen.

Super hyggeligt og nemt til byen og ski-bus, dog ærgeligt de kun kørte om morgen og eftermiddag, når man gerne ville hjem til frokost, men fandt løsning 🤗

Lige lavt nok på loftet når man er 8 voksne 😅
