Hotel Försterhof

This is a very charming place full of hospitality and alpine charm. The room was great and the breakfast. It was a bit outside the village (a ten minute stroll) which we really enjoyed but might put others off. Very nice place.

The location is at Wolfgang see, very quiet place. Good for relaxing and for romantic getaways but could be boring in Winter with everything close. Service at the hotel was fabulous- the reception, the restaurant staff. The food at the hotel- the buffet breakfast and our set dinner was delicious! We also enjoyed the Sauna facility provided FOC. There is also a private beach 10 minutes walk away, and a cable car to the mountain about 25 minutes by bus away. The hotel is 10 min from the nearest bus stop and about 1.5 hours away by bus from Salzburg.

Förster Hof is supposedly a 4-star hotel. Being normally budget travellers we forked out a lot for 2 nights in this hotel. Well aware that part of the deal was the location. Beds ware awful, worn and hard parts hurting. No ventilation (in supposedly one of the premium rooms), so needed to sleep with open windows. Lake view extremely small (like the one that cheap spanish hotel would call lake view). Used the restaurant, bland food much overpriced even for the location. Needed to check out early, but no staff available at 6.15. Not a 4-star experience. In all fairness, the weather was bad, and the experience was also tainted by the fact that we were unable to get any kind of reduction due to cutting a night and 2 breakfasts out of the booking. This was well within the booking rules, but some small effort, say a reduction on the dinner could have been offered.
