Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbus - Polaris, an IHG Hotel

Overall, a reasonable experience for a short family stay. Lobby renovation isn't too bothersome, good breakfast, convenient location. Staff is friendly and helpful. The pool is advertised as heated, and it is most certainly not, as compared to another IHG property we visited on the same trip. That said, it is a much larger than typical pool facility with sections for all ages. The only other downsides are very limited charging plug access in suites, and in room coffee packs don't contain any type of stir stick. Having the kitchenette is nice, especially traveling with kids and many road trip drinks/snacks.

Staff were friendly and handled people the best they could

When we arrived building did not have power and hadn't had it in nearly 24hrs. No phone call was made to us, no heads up so we could find other accommodations. We were told on arrival. No discounts were offered. All other hotels near by were booked. So we had no other choice but to stay. We picked this hotel for the amenities, which were unavailable, including breakfast because of the power outage. The rooms were dark, and grew quite warm through the night. Beds were uncomfortable. We checked out the next morning and as of now have still been charged for the 2 nights, even though we were told we would only be charged for one night. Honestly I don't think we should have been charged at all.

Location and availability.

We didn't confirm reservation or stay because the facility was without heat or hot water. We were there because our home was without power also. The manager was open and honest about our options due to the circumstances which speaks to the integrity of the company.
