"Perfect cool weather getaway."

The front balcony room is great! Coffee on the front porch in Highlands Inn robe with 62 degree weather was wonderful and then wine and cheese in the afternoon! Great seat to see all that is going on below. Staff was very accommodating and room was very spacious!

"Twilight zone stay"

2.0

Weirdest place ever stayed at the room I booked was a double bed bedroom . When we went into the room the carpeting was so filthy. I went down to the front Desk They did offer a king room suite, which was very nice, but said he could only give it to me for one day because they were booked fully. Our plan was to stay there for two days, the hotel was never booked fully. They had approximately 21 open rooms on both days . There was no hot tub that was offered. It has it look like it was not used in over a year there was no continental breakfast at all. No vending machine that there’s signs for them There was approximately no more than a dozen people in the entire hotel it was a twilight zone place , I think the hotel is used as a front and the log cabin unit on the upper hill for conventions which I believe is there’s looks like a haunted house and hasn’t been used in years. It looks like. The weirdest place I’ve ever seen they also charged me two different amounts for the same room

"Adequate for a stay in Highlands; but not a good value"

6.0

Pluses: Great Location on Main st; clean rooms and bathrooms Downsides: No dedicated parking-all on the main street, breakfast was lukewarm eggs; no fridges in rooms, but there is an ice machine. As mentioned in a previous review, the first thing impression of the hotel was the large sign stating they DO NOT (their emphasis) give refunds for early departures, not a 'we are glad you chose to stay with us'. Understand the business practice, but ironically it is why we won't stay there again nor recommend. We forfeited a night because of the change in course of Hurricane Ian, and they stood strongly by the no refund under any circumstances (which is certainly their right), but not very sensitive to customer needs or future business. It isn't the amount of the money, it is the attitude which was off putting.

"Needs some TLC and Southern hospitality"

6.0

This is an excellent location in downtown Highlands and holds so much potential. However, though a historic inn, it felt more old and tired, and not particularly warm or friendly. It could benefit from some meaningful TLC. When we arrived, we noticed several negative signs posted — We Do NOT Refund Early Check-outs!. No daily housekeeping. Restaurant closed to public because of staffing shortages, etc. At check in, we were never told about hotel offerings or breakfast for guests. We just got our key and a bill. The room does not appear to have been updated in quite some time. It is rather dark and, like the common areas and elevator, has a pervasive musty and dank odor. The mattress was uncomfortable and appeared very old. Pillows felt thin and cheap, as did the bedding and towels. Shower and separate bathroom are not updated, and hot water was spotty. The generic toiletries and industrial toilet paper added to the less than hospitable feeling. Room rates are not inexpensive, but the quality of the room furnishings, amenities, and hospitality/service are not aligned. After returning home, we noticed many reviewers sharing similar feedback. Unfortunately, we also noticed management replies are often defensive. We truly hope the owners take these comments constructively and invest in reviving this important historic property. Small steps would go a long way in helping create guest experiences that are memorable for the right reasons.

"Nice Little Inn!!"

10.0

This is just the greatest little comfy Inn. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were nice, the staff was friendly, we enjoyed our breakfast and everything is right out the front door. Its very quiet and we slept like babes. We cannot wait to return and hoping for an Oct or November trip.

"Very Nice Historic Inn"

10.0

We enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights. The owner and staff work hard to keep the Inn looking nice. Location can't be beat. Decor and antiques are magnificent. We could tour thru the place all day and admire. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Truly one of the best trips we have had in a while.

"A Blast From the Past"

10.0

What a beautiful hotel. When you step into the lobby, it is like stepping back in time. If you want to enjoy a piece of history, stay at the Highlands Inn. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is friendly, the complimentary breakfast is homemade, and the rooms are clean and spacious. Staying here felt like home. We can't wait to get back!!!

"Don't ever change"

6.0

The Highlands Inn has been a fantastic location in a gem of a town for many years. We celebrated our anniversary there earlier in June. Not the first time! During covid, we also visited. At that time, they were not serving the fantastic breakfasts of the past, but gave us a voucher for the deli down the road (excellent)! 2022 we paid so much more for our front porch room, even during the week. There was a breakfast. Some juice. This year, a big truck moved antiques from the other property. Hang on Highlands Inn! Nothing else quite like you.
