Love this hotel. Got style and class. Very different. Evidently repurposed from a synagogue. Not sure how I feel about that, they moved to new place and sold this place and it become Hotel Skylar. Rooms were really nice and bed magnificent. Staff very friendly. Literally a few minutes walk to Syracuse University - spitting distance. Very convenient. Free parking really nice. Zero complaints and tons of kudos for this place. With our child soon to attend Syracuse, Hotel Skylar is absolutely my go to place to stay. Also, we stayed on the 2nd floor, check out some of our photos. The hallways were different, that's sure, very fun to look at!

We recently stayed at the Skyler Hotel expecting a higher-end experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The best part of the hotel is its location—very convenient to Syracuse University, which is why we booked it. However, the hotel is in serious need of renovation. The hallways had dated furniture, worn carpeting, and creaky floors that gave the whole place a tired eerie feel. The hallways reminded me of something out of The Shining. While our room was clean and more modern than the common areas—with updated decor and hardware—it still had odd quirks - notably a large exposed metal beam running overhead. Even the entryway needed help—there were dead cactus plants in plastic pots, which made for an unwelcoming first impression Parking was available, which was convenient, but there weren’t many dining options nearby. We ended up driving to Meier’s Creek Brewing for a meal. It didn't disappoint. I believe a breakfast was included, but we had no desire to drink or eat there. Even the small lobby bar lacked appeal—it wasn’t inviting at all. On the positive side, the staff was friendly. Still, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again, especially not at the inflated rates of $800–$900 a night during university events. For that price, we expect 5 5-star but with the limitation in accommodations in the area, they can inflate the prices. I will drive an hour to avoid this rip off

The hotel was very convenient to Syracuse University. Walking distance (about 10 minutes). It was a 3 star type place with very few amenities. If you just need a place for a day or so to visit a college student it works fine. The staff was very slow - while friendly - very slow. They lock doors at 8:00 which isn't convenient for door dash deliveries and they don't have room service. Night check-in person was a bit rude as reported by my spouse. It's as I rate a 2-3 on a scale of 5 kind of hotel. It definitely needs a refurbishment - old carpet, old everything.

It's fine for a quick stay near the University. Probably more options for food when school is not closed for the summer. Quick cab/ride share to downtown where there are a lot of dining options.
