This place was just ok for a hotel in India. It’s so far up a mountain that access to outside food and drivers are slim, so you are at the hotel’s mercy for pretty much anything. The balcony was nice and so was the view. No ac in this hotel, and no mosquito nets. There was a really old plug in fan in the room though and it didn’t really fit well with the rest of the room. None of the outlets worked. They are the old India outlets, so the front desk had to bring up their converters. Not the best experience, but not the worst.

"Mountain paradise"

10.0

Beautifully located in a quiet mountain, rustic location with wonderful views on the Munnar area, this hotel offers spacious and bright rooms with comfortable beds, well equipped bathrooms, helpful and polite staff. An inspiring spot for a day or two. Note you'll require a car/cab to get there. Ps: wifi signal could be improved

"Highest elevation Hotel in Munnar"

8.0

Rooms were clean Bathrooms needs improvement; the shower stall/bath tub are not good. They should consider installing a proper ceramic bath tub; instead of the tiled seperation. Water is every where in the bath room. The whole bath needs remodelling and needs to bring it to western standard. Food is fresh cooked but quality medicore. They should consider hiring a better cook. Staff and service was great; probably one of the best

"nice location, however cut out from civilization"

8.0

Deshadan has a beautiful location, actually the clouds are enetering your room when you open the balcony doors and quietness of the environments soothers city stressed nerves. However, to get there is a bit of a problem, the way is a bit stip: without your vehicle be ready to spend lots of money on greedy rikshaws, with your own vehicle be super attentive on the road and use only 1st gear, ALso because of the road, once you get back to hotel there is not much wish to return to the city, so you stay in your room. During our stay (2 nights) the TV dish wasnt working, because of cloudy weather and apart from playing chess there wasnt much you could do at the hotel. I guess management needs to look into it, and provide guests with DVDs or other entertainments for the cases of bad weather when tv doesnt work. The food was good, rooms were nice, comfortable, the personnel was very polite and friendly, the hotel is well-maintained. Even the hard approach to it can be a plus point as its a beautiful way with small waterfalls and rich vegetation. However, once again, be prepared that its quite isolated, and there is not much to do at the hotel.

"Good views but avg food and tricky approach road"

6.0

We had stayed at Deshadan for 3 nights in 3 rooms for family vacation in valley view rooms. The hotel is overall nice and offers good valley and mountain views from rooms as it is claimed to be the highest hotel in South India lurching on a hill. However, the final approach road of 1 KM is very bad, steep and hence risky to drive (1st Gear drive only). It is poorly maintained as hotel claims its owned by Forest Dept but because of that our driver always used to resist driving up & down more than 1 time in a day. At night its particularly tricky to climb up. The valley view rooms are quite good with a very nice sit-out gallery. The activity centre is badly maintained with just carrom, chess, table tennis and a broken fooseball table. But again the food is a let-down as there is very less variety and quality is just ok. So if you want to go out for lunch & dinner both then you have to go through the ordeal of steep up & down road more than once daily. Overall, its value for money if you dont mind the hassle of up & down commute every day!!

"Great views, but old rooms"

6.0

The views from the hotel are spectacular. The bed was clean but the room generally was old. The floor was also quite dusty and dirty - definitely needs some revamp. Decent service and nice staff. Probably one of the better hotels in the area.
