Hot springs resort with a great selection of thermal baths. Great location at the top of the Main Street. Plenty of walking and sightseeing options close by.

A lovely quiet corner room, plenty of space, and peaceful, the only negative was the view from the balcony was blocked by a wall resulting in the room being rather dark, however not much time spent in the room so not really an issue.

This is a rather self-contained establishment - there are some shops, a small arcade, and a few restaurants within the hotel. Our room in the main building was sufficiently large for our family; the futons that they provided were also very comfortable. The Grand Bath, whilst showing some signs of age, was all in all pretty well-maintained. Location-wise, we appreciated the fact that many things were within walking distance - e.g. the small food/ shopping street was right at our doorstep, and it was a short walk to the start of the Jigokudani trail. There was also a shuttle bus that took us to the Bear Park ropeway.

The room was a little dusty in some areas, especially the aircon.

Wow, what a place! This is not just a hotel, it's a huge resort with several restaurants, a huge onsen complex, amusement arcades, an ice cream parlour and even two karaoke bars. It is in the best location for Noboribetsu and Hell Valley, which is literally a two minute walk away. I would highly recommend our deluxe Japanese room. It was huge and spacious, the biggest room we stayed in in Japan. The staff come in to set up your beds on the floor each evening. We had a gorgeous garden view with a peaceful fountain. There was a kettle and tea bags and coffee in the room, but no milk sachets (we took these from the buffet instead). The dinner buffet is fantastic! So many incredible options, from sashimi and fresh crab to hot Vietnamese dishes, a ramen bar, salads, soft serve and ice cream. We had the buffet for two nights but we also had the kaiseki in Yunosato restaurant on one night, which was exceptional - many courses of delicious food. The staff were so lovely. The breakfast buffet was very varied - mostly savoury Japanese options but a few western options too eg small croissants and fried eggs. The onsen was amazing. It's all single sex and there are about 15 different baths on the women's side (same on the men's side). It's all naked, but there's also a (hot) 25m swimming pool and one jacuzzi where you can be clothed and all genders are allowed. In the single-sex onsen, there are a few cold water pools as well. If you stay more than one night, you get a few benefits eg a bonus dish in the dinner buffet, and a voucher for discount on the ice cream parfaits. I highly recommend staying more than one night as there's so much to do: we loved Lake Toya (cycling), the Ainu museum (Upopoy) and Hell Valley. Finally, there's a huge tax-free shop on site where you can buy all your souvenirs, and they also ship your luggage using the Yamato service if needed.

You can't really swim in the swimming pool as it's extremely hot. The dinner buffet was the same each night that we went. If you're staying more than one night, it would be better to have a more varied offering. Finally, it's a bit tricky in advance to figure out all that the hotel offers, and how to book meals. It would be good to add more information here on the dinner buffets and kaiseki and other restaurants and how to book them
