Oberstdorfer Ferienwelt

The snow that week-end was amazing. The place pretty standard, nice bathroom and warm but we found only two beds and had to fold the sofa over ourselves.

The host. We were flooded with many emails prior to arrival requesting the details of all to issue the guest cards. The email bounced, then I transmitted it all by phone. The guest cards were never issued, it would have been very simple to leave them in the place and we were then aggressively pursued to pay extra money, incl the kids when we were told at 10.20 am on Sunday when carrying bags out that we are checking out late (yes we had assumed that it would be 11 am). We both got very inappropriate comments such as 'not being able to read' (who wants to read pages and pages of emails when booking an accommodation (which we do a lot without such problems)?! over 'bookings cannot charge the kurtaxe as they do not have the information' (actually the ages of children have to be entered), through to 'such a horrible familiy we have never had stay' (wow, what a friendly host). We loved the snow but it was notable that it dumped about 50 cm the night of arrival and there was noone to be seen to clear the parking, while shovels were left at every corner so guest could do it themselves (obviously this was inconvenient time for the host and outside the expected service). The key/code needs picking up in a different building and in the snow it was a challenge to find anything (the car park is on a different street). All up - this was the most unpleasant host we have ever stayed with. The kitchen is not a separate room as advertised, it is in the entrance, a tiny corner and not equipped to cook for 4 people. Lucky we had brought our Raclette machine and went out one evening.

Very comfortable apartment and friendly hosts! Well cleaned and location is great. It always feels like home at Oberstdorfer Ferienwelt.
