"Lovely view but tiny room"

4.0

I booked a superior room and all you get for the extra money is a "better view". The room is really small and the bathroom is just a cupboard built into the corner of the room. Not even a proper shower cubicle - just a sunken area in the floor with a tatty shower curtain round. Toiletries were two bottles of blue liquid with nothing written on to say what they were. No space to unpack so we had to live out of our suitcases. Lucky we were only booked for two nights. I know it is early in the season but the garden was all overgrown. Breakfast was fine - basic but a choice of how you could have your eggs. The pool area was clean and looked inviting but the weather wasn't good enough to swim.

"Breathtaking views of Bodrum away from the noise."

8.0

Location away from late night music made the long walk into town worthwhile. Manager was noticeably absent so breakfast was patchy and inadequate for the cost. No coffee making facilities was annoying. But skeleton staff, did their best.

"Great View!"

8.0

The best thing about this hotel is the view... it has a magnificent view of the sea. The rooms were adequate and very simple - no TV or radio, no hair dryer. Breakfast was very good with lots to choose from and eggs cooked to order. Mr. Basak spoke English very well, was a joy to talk with and he was helpful with directions. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the seaport area of Bodrum. If you're looking for luxury stay somewhere else. But if you want a moderately priced, simple hotel, this is a nice choice.

"A fabulous view does not make a great hotel"

2.0

We were booked for 7 nights and stayed 4 which I think tells you everything. The view from the pool level and some of the rooms is absolutely wonderful but the hotel itself is very basic. The rooms were very clean but tiny (really tiny). We had two rooms one of which had hardly any storage space (so we overflowed into the adjoining room's cupboard space). The bathrooms are equally small (think cruising). Both our rooms were very dark and one had no view at all. After the first morning our teenage son decided that breakfast was not worth getting up for and it was, indeed, very meagre. The staff who worked there work incredibly hard and long hours (so much so that I felt awful stopping them working to ask for a drink or something to eat when we were around the pool) We did not eat an evening meal there - I managed to order a cheeseburger one lunch time and it was honestly the worst thing I have ever been charged to eat. We didn't dare risk dinner after that. It is such a shame, it could be just so lovely but a good view does not make a good hotel and the whole place is stuck somewhere in the middle of the 20th century with rooms reminiscent of a very clean but basic youth hostel. Wifi was very unreliable. If you go, despite this, take euro cash to pay your bill and do not make my mistake of not doing so otherwise you will find the published euro rate converted to Turkish lira at a very disadvantageous rate for the purposes of charging to your card.

"Parking is tricky but some of the best views await"

8.0

Once inside the cozy confines of the hotel, you are treated to a true gem. Each of the 18 rooms has a secluded seating area with tables, chairs, and chaises. Bouganvia and jasmine draped arbors hang overhead to add to this breathtaking view and further delight the senses...add a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at sunset and you are set. The room was simple, clean, and pleasant but a little on the small side. The pool on the main level was WONDERFUL, offering a cool dip on hot days and a panoramic vista of all of Bodrum. Breakfast was excellent, offering eggs as you like and a buffet of breads, cheeses, yogurts, juices and coffee. We were also glad that we took advantage of the candlelit poolside dinner for one of the evenings. I found the bed a bit firm for my liking but my wife thought it was quite comfortable. The AC was a must to have on typical Bodrum summer, however ours would make a loud straining noise sometime after a 2-5 hour timespan. This definitely woke me up during the middle of the night to shut it off and then wake up an hour later to turn it back on because it was to stuffy in the room. I guess we should have brought this to their attention, but in the end it was a minor inconvenience to an otherwise delightful stay at the Ancient Theater Hotel.

"Breakfast on the patio overlooking the Aegean Sea"

10.0

This hotel is on the hillside overlooking the Aegean Sea. The view was spectacular. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was awesome !! Beautifully prepared plate with cucumbers, tomatoes, 3 types of cheese, meat, and bread. Tea and juice available. Location is in walking distance to the downtown district of Bodrum. Hope to return in the future.
