"Good holiday"

8.0

We had a really relaxing 2 day stay. Went on a couple of game drives and saw lion, elephant, buffalo and even a glimpse of a rhino. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was adequate but tailored more to Indian tastes. The lodge is 50 years old and is showing it's age in some places. That said, it is good value and well positioned not too far from the park gate.

"overpriced"

4.0

electricity available few hours a day, I wonder how do they store food without fridges, this is even dangerous. Cutoffs will follow exactly your safari schedule, ie you are back from driving and want to have hot shower and a cup of coffee, forget it till lunch time (followed by after lunch cutoffs till dinner and then night) staff lies all the time. e.g . you book a guide for the game driving one day before, but in morning they tell you that there is no one available; reserve a table for dinner ->same story; maintenance request to fix anything in the room, you can wait for ages , but no one will come. The staff will promise you anything , just to get rid of you , with no intend to get it done.

"Visit to Maasai Mara"

Everything at the hotel was awesome. I just didn't like the sewer gas smell coming from the toilet. The wait staff were awesome! I'll definitely stay here again.

"Brilliant location, amazing staff!"

10.0

First time going to Kenya on safari. This hotel is in a brilliant location. Warmly greeted by staff. Easy to check in. All the staff seem genuinely pleased to help you and ensure you have a memorable stay. They are all very attentive, and just generally happy people. -hippo pool with viewing deck is fantastic! get to see a huge range of wildlife -stayed in a chalet which was very comfortable and private -meals perfect (I'm vegetarian and sometimes struggle with the selection of food) -Great breakfasts! -all the staff truly wonderful (don't say this lightly). Judy, Richard, Vincent, Daniel and Milton. (Rare to remember the staffs' names for the right reason - but true in this instance) -Ended up celebrating my birthday here and they ensured it was lovely and special with singing and dancing (staff...not me!) -Saw all the amazing wildlife including lions+++, cheetahs+++ and all the others -Arranged for a safari guide/driver prior to travelling who was extremely knowledgeable and made the safari all round brilliant (Francis). Knew exactly where and how to track all the animals. Cannot recommend highly enough

"Good lodge to experience Africa's Wild Life"

8.0

The hotel staff was awesome very friendly and easy to talk to. All inclusive does not include drinks. The drink expense and expense of airport transportation were not in my plans but other than that we are 3 good meals daily. The power goes off 3 times daily for 2 hours for the generator to recharge. Animals are everywhere be sure to lock your door so the monkeys don't go in your room

"great location in the Mara"

10.0

Stayed with a family group of 11 for two nights. Hotel was perfectly located for access to all parts of the Mara. Hotel is now 50 years old but has been maintained very well overall. Staff were extremely helpful in handling any requests. Head office messed up our first game drive access but reception manager handled well and found us an awesome driver that we then used for the next 3 drives. Ask for Tony for game drives he is awesome.

"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR "

6.0

I spent three night in Keekorok. The lodge was the first one of it´s class to be built in the reserve back in the 60´s and you can see it. The rooms were quite old with furniture that has been there for many years, but still ok. Anyway, you don´t spend much time in the rooms. The general cleaning was fine although there were cobwebs in visible and reachable places. The common areas were very nice, much better than the rooms. They have a lovely bar in front of the hippos pool. You have to go and stay there around 8pm and you will see a long queue of hippos (around 25) getting out of the water. They come back at 6am. A very nice thing: it doesn´t have fences so when you wake up in the morning you can see all kind of animals around the rooms. A very bad thing: we arrived by plane to the Keekorok airstrip, as you can imagine for the name it is in the lodge´s area. To be more precised it is 2km away from the main entrance, about 8minutes drive. The charged us 60 USD!! Simply a ripped off. They serve buffet meals, which are not very tasty, specially desserts. So if you are a sweet´s fan bring your own! Breakfast is very good, though. Remember that most of full boarded accommodation don´t include drinks which are paid separately. In the lodge the prices are reasonable. The staff is super nice and are looking forward to take care of you. Thumbs up for them! Overall: don´t expect anything fancy but it´s good value for money
