Spacious room

The name of hotel from road is not visible when coming from south so we missed it and went all way to other side of village. But saw sign when we drove back the other way. The wait to get served in bar and had to in end go into kitchen to ask where every one was.

We booked an executive double - allocated room 10 (not the specific room asked for when I booked or the room shown in the room description on Booking.com however). Bed was very comfortable; shower was good and hot. Provision of rubber bath mat made it safer (I am 74 yrs old) to climb into and stand in the bath to take a shower - however I managed to cut the top of my foot on the glass curtain/ shower guard as I climbed into the bath!! Nothing serious, however, thankfully. Plenty of storage. There was even an external balcony off the seating area over looking the carpark - surplus to requirement however especially at this time of year!! Full pre-cooked breakfast available from 8am in the morning, though we only had a light bite - coffee, grapefruit & tangerine pieces, toast & marmalade - as we were already booked for a carvery lunch at 12.30, so didn't need or want a full English. Sufficient choice for most people I imagine. Free parking - always a bonus.

No evening restaurant facility at weekend - had to go elsewhere for an evening meal. Furniture and room feels a tad tired - needs a makeover, one of the two settees (situated in front of the TV) especially needs changing - it is past it's best, and is hard to get up out of when you are my age. Flat wall mounted TV would benefit from being a bigger size screen given the size of the room especially if you might want to watch from the bed.

Stayed here 4 or 5 times now & staff have always been friendly & helpful. It's in close proximity of where we needed to be & can't fault the breakfast.

The rooms are getting a little tired now & could do with a little TLC. Bathrooms especially need a touch of descaler around the taps & shower which would vastly improve the stay. Beds are comfy & room temperature is spot on.

Room 10 is a suite with plenty of space, appropriate furniture and a balcony.

While breakfast was good overall, (a) it's always a false economy to pre-cook many more fried eggs than are needed at any one time and (b) it would be honest to say that soggy hash browns equal poor quality cooking. Recent poor experience reported by others wasn't what I encountered.
