"Amazing"

9.0

A lovely Welcome greeted us on Arrival at this very cosy & interesting Hotel. Our Room (No4) was big clean & spacious with a very comfortable 4 Poster Bed, a Roll Top Bath and the most stunning views of the Mountains, Loch Long and the Hotel’s big garden. Our 2 Small Dogs were also made to feel Welcome - they quickly felt relaxed here. Breakfast choice was Good, Breakfast room very peaceful with large windows to enjoy the Views. We didn’t eat here of an Evening so can’t comment. Hotel Staff very friendly and always greeted us with a warm smile. We would like to Highly recommend this Hotel.

Please Note this is Only constructive criticism feedback … we very much appreciate a hotel this lovely accepting Dogs, however a little Tip would be to provide a small water bowl in the guest room and maybe a little Welcome Doggy Pack of a few treats… it’s such a lovely touch we come across often on our many European road trips with our dogs. Even though dog owners travel with these items it’s always a lovely gesture to see when we stay in different places. Beyond this small idea we found the hotel faultless and have nothing Negative to say.

"All in all a pleasant stay, very nice staff, but not really valve for money at £187 for a basis"

5.0

The location was idyllic, loved the library and tradition features, view at breakfast was perfect, if you’re lucky enough to get one if the two tables that are positioned directly to the front of loch. Bed was comfortable, room was warm, tea & coffee and toiletries provided. Food was good, staff were friendly and very obliging.

Not a criticism just preference: dining furniture a bit dated, and no table linens & paper napkins. The bedroom carpet had a few stains, as it was a light coloured carpet this is to be expected but maybe should have been considered when designing rooms. If you have light carpets make sure they are cleaned for every guest arriving. Wash hand basin hot water tap was barely a trickle. We did mention this to staff who said it would be the water pressure as we were on top floor but were informed pressure was fine and must have been something previous guest had done to tap. This maybe the case but it should have been noticed when room was being cleaned for next guests. Refillable toiletries are utilised - great, but fill all of them up every new arrival. We had no Tv channels, staff provided a firestick which was great but not before saying did you not bring one with you. Never have I been asked this or needed this in a hotel before. All in all it was a pleasant stay but not really value for money at £187 for a basic double room at in the attic space.

"Très beau manoir, nourriture excellente, chambre à moderniser"

10.0

Un beau manoir, le personnel est chaleureux et attentionné. Le petit déjeuner est un régal. Nous avons également dîner et le repas était vraiment délicieux.

La chambre et la salle de bain mérite une modernisation

"Friendly, welcoming, delicious Scottish hospitality at its best :-)"

9.0

The high score was given mainly for the hotel's welcoming, flexible hospitality and excellent food. The lady (sorry, I didn't catch your name, who was at front of house was lovely, caring, professional and kind. She did everything possible to make our stay welcoming. For example, our ferry from Kennacraig to Islay was brought forward to 7:30am so it meant that we had to check out at 4:30am as we were 2 hours away from the port. She organised a packed breakfast for the four of us to takeaway in the morning and left it at reception with a cheery, parting, hand written note. The beautiful turreted building facing the River Clyde was magical... so Scotland. Dinner was delicious and thoughtfully set out in the smaller dining room so to ensure that our dining experience could be a cosy one. It was the low season so only us four and another couple dined. But nevertheless, the atmosphere was convivial. We wished we had had the time and energy to include dessert but having been on the road for 12 hours that day, sleep was at the forefront of our minds. Our doggie was allowed to sit with us in the dining room which proved to us that they were truly dog friendly. We booked rooms 1 and 2 (superior ones) and slept in very comfortable four poster beds. Both rooms were clean. There was plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate for us to enjoy which we found helpful in getting us going during our early morning rise.

The only negative points were that our ensuite bathroom was icy cold and the shower cubicle was looking tired (ie tiles needed to be re-grouted and the shower was leaking) plus both rooms were cold despite the portable electric heaters in the room.

"Nice place shame about the dinner experience"

5.0

Location - comfort surprise and delight Wonderful views - dog friendly Separate dining Room for us Breakfast was fine

Dinner took an hour to come - when only 4 covers in the restaurant and we had booked a specific time Lack of a non lager or Guinness - suggested getting bottle ales in, for winter when drought would go off due to lack of sales Tv not normal tv and to operate it was a nightmare. Not advised at check in Items on menu not available - staff didn’t know -

Seul bémol , Emplacement agréable au bord du Loch Long mais un peu à l’écart de toute attraction ou commerce .
