Hotel Mare

We had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Mare which functions as an addition to the slightly pricier option to Hotel Miramar located just a hundred feet away. The breakfast was tasty with a small but varied selection of spreads and cold cuts. We enjoyed the bright breakfast room and the beautiful tall ceilings with its crown mouldings. Good dining options nearby (Opitz & and Italian restaurant on the Spanish steps) and a pleasant park with lakeside bar in n the Binnenalster. Easy and fast connection into the city by subway and several bus lines.

The mattress was on the hard side, which some, however, may prefer. Most rooms are on the lower levels and have no balcony.

The room and bathroom were beautiful and spacious. The bed and duvet were very comfortable. We loved the wooden floor in the room and tiled floor in the bathroom. The room and bathroom were very clean - although we did find some mould in a corner of the room, which was gone the day after our arrival.

Hotel Mare is more a very expensive hostel than a hotel. The main hotel, with breakfast room, is about 200 metres away on the same road. In such cases, other hotels provide coffee machines for the guests - with coffee pads or capsules, sugar and milk. Some hotels provide even a fridge. Not here. This is a budget hostel. All in all, this 'hotel' is much too expensive.
