"WARNING: They Rob You While You Sleep!!"

2.0

!WARNING! DO NOT STAY HERE. IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK. These people are completely unaccountable PSYCHOPATHS. They will enter your room while you are sleeping and steal from you. They will then promise a full refund and then give you the run around. I have been waiting weeks. We keep making appointments and they keep breaking them. They are absolutely evil thieves without conscience. They will blame you for being bothered by their malevolence. These people are demonic. Plain and simple. If you stay here, you take a great risk on several levels. I had a debit card stolen at this location and all they could say is that's upsetting to me because I have PTSD. They refused to share the videos from the hotel cameras and refuse to do any investigation. They think vilifying me excuses their suspicious avoidance of inquiry. They came into my room multiple times without telling me. They want to say the problem is me while they continue to refuse to investigate. They have resolved nothing and continue to avoid giving me the full refund that they promised me. They withdrew money from my bank account and tried to make charges up to $1500. They are a danger to every person in their proximity. They are inarguably bad people who will screw you over and then try to marr your reputation. They are disgustingly terrible, heartless robbers without the capacity for empathy nor remorse. DO NOT STAY HERE. IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK.

"No Room in the Inn"

2.0

We got there and they claimed that they had not gotten any reservations from expedia for a long time and did not have a room for us. (Neither did they have our daughter's reservation that was to start a few days after ours) We chose a hotel with a kitchen so that we could cook and have room to play with the grandkids who were coming. They did find us a room in a sister hotel close to the center of town, but the room was just a plain room with beds, closet, desk and bathroom and not much room to move around it. They said they would give us free breakfast to make up for not having a kitchen, but that only lasted a few days and then as soon as Christmas season started they stopped giving us free breakfast. They had a hard time finding my daughter a place to stay, who needed a kitchen to cook in because of food allergies. Finally they gave her a room in the right hotel as they could not find anywhere else with a kitchen. We were very disappointed that we did not get to stay in the same area of town as our daughter and grandkids and did not have the space and amenities of the room we booked and paid for.

"Great suites in Oaxaca"

10.0

Lovely suites with welcoming courtyard and extremely helpful staff. Walking distance to both central pedestrians-only area and top restaurants recommended by locals. Would be terrific for longer term stay.

"Hotel muy tranquilo"

8.0

"Good experience... apart from the noise"

6.0

These suites are big! You get a lot for your money, huge living area, three generous bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a nearly fully equipped kitchen (more of that later). But, and it's a decent sized but... don't plan on sleeping much at weekends. The least of the problems is a bar or nightclub that produces a low thumping rumble that after a couple of decent shots of mezcal, one could probably ignore easily enough. But much much closer is an event venue, which I presume is an open air garden, as is very commonly found in Mexico. This must be more or less adjacent, and on the night we were unfortunate enough to experience it, they had a band playing into the very wee small hours. And this band sure made a racket. I could cope with the vocalist. The drums were only jarring. But the brass section. Oh my. Trumpets are just about the most penetrative sound at 3am, no amount of local firewater could drive those stabbing riffs from my brain. Fair ruined the night and left us all grumpy the next day when we should have been enjoying the sightseeing around and about. This is a real shame, as the installations are great, off-street parking available for one car on a quiet street. It's a short walk to the centre, restaurants not far away and a convenience store at most 5 minutes away. It's also very easy to get to the main throughfare to go east-west. Wifi works fine, no major worries with anything really. Some further tips: 1) I arrived with a booking that included breakfasts, but no mention was made of this at check-in. When I enquired, I was told that they didn't serve breakfast in high-season (???? a bit strange, normally it's in low-season when breakfast can be a bit sketchy, i.e not worth their while). Still, they honoured our booking and brought a good breakfast to our room every day - although children are not included, they only bring breakfasts for adults (why???). 2) I got robbed blind at the first Pemex gas station that you come to after joining the main road to Mitla from the hotel. I'm used to Mexican gas station litres being a touch undervolume, but on this occasion, it was brutal. I estimate here that the litre was coming out at around 600ml at most. In fact there was a guy there raising hell, pointing to a half full jerry can and refusing to pay. I imagine his 10 litre jerry can was proving the lie. I moved off just as the police arrived. I suggest you give this gas station a wide berth and try others on down the highway. 3) The kitchen is not fully stocked - our booking was for three adults and two children, but for many items there were just a set of four or three pieces available - mugs, plates etc. Strange omission, it can't be too tricky to match numbers of items to guests. 4) The boiler is a bit funky - you have to light it upon arrival (we weren't warned) and after that I wouldn't put it at full pelt as it only has a small water deposit, after which the temperature dips alarmingly. Then you have to wait 10 minutes for it to warm again, ready to finish, or the next person to have their shower. For a large group wanting to get out bright and early in the morning, you should bear this in mind. Overall, a very pleasant experience that would have been four or five star if we hadn't lost an entire night to the trumpets from hell.

"Need space? this is the place"

10.0

The place is not your typical hotel with small rooms. It is a set of six apartments, very spacious. The one we stayed at had 3 rooms, it was perfect for our three teen agers and us. Wifi worked super all over the room, no extra charge. If you go, do not stay in the room right by the front door, it was noisy with people coming in and out. The service was very good, predictable, everything was impeccable. The kitchen was super, the apartment had a living room and dining room. If you go in a weekend, Friday night was noisy, a party close to the place was just a bit too much - bring earplugs. This happens all around town, no matter where you stay. The rest of the days were quiet. If you like your pillow fluffy, request it at the beginning. And careful with the hot water in the shower, it is very very hot - although the pressure is so good! feels like a spa. Around the corner, there is a "fonda" (small cafeteria), don't miss "memelas" from there, they were simply yum. We bought some and brought them back home for breakfast. This place is close to the downtown area, we walked there every night, it was nice because although the first streets are a bit iffy, the rest is a gorgeous colonial walk. Oaxaca is one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico, don't miss it!

"Cabañas confortables"

6.0

"A joyful experience and a good rest"

The hotel was a wonderful place in which to decompress after a difficult day of travel: two connecting flights. It was attractive and impeccably clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
