Shanti Som Wellbeing Retreat

I spent a lovely day here with 2 friends. I had a massage then an anti aging facial. Both were very good. We had a swim in the lovely pool which is so peaceful surrounded by flowers. Then the lunch - honestly both the food and service were excellent I was overall extremely impressed

Highly recommended, amazing staff ( Feern- if spelled correctly 🙂)made us feel at home right away. Luxurious room in a retreat friendly environment. This is an absolute piece of heaven.

This was my second visit to Shanti Som. I am now posting this review as I have emailed the owner of Shanti- Som personally to request an apology but I have not had the courtesy of a reply. My holiday was deeply marred by two distressing events. At the resort, I joined a group hike organised by the hotel. It became clear very quickly that weather conditions had not been considered. Shortly after we began the walk, thunder and lightening began, followed by torrential rain and high winds. The terrain became dangerously slippery and several guests were visibly afraid. Despite the conditions, instead of returning to our transport, the guide continued the walk steeply uphill for almost an hour, putting the guests at considerable risk. On our return, sodden wet through, on behalf of the group I calmly approached reception to request a refund for the cost of the hike and assistance with the cleaning of our clothing. What followed when I took my laundry to reception was deeply upsetting. The manager on duty Alicia, confronted me publicly in the lobby in full view of other guests and new arrivals. Rather than allowing me to speak about the incident, I was belittled and embarrassed and told that I had "anger issues" and needed "therapy". I was stunned. No guest should be publicly spoken to in this manner, especially in an establishment that purports to provide wellness, compassion and a high standard of hospitality. The other members of our group were shocked at how I had been treated and confirmed that I had approached reception in a calm and polite manner. The hotel were unable to clean my trousers, which I had been advised by the guide were suitable for the walk and they had to be discarded. I only recognised one member of staff from my previous visit two years earlier so there seems to be a high turnover of staff but other than Alicia I would like to state that all the other staff were lovely. The incident completely ruined my holiday and I was very upset and eager to return home. I shall never visit Shanti Som again.

I visited Shanti Som with a girlfriend in May - I can't wait to return! It is an intimate and idyllic location hidden in the hills of Monda. The staff are friendly, helpful and made our stay incredibly relaxing, refreshing and calm. The rooms are cosy, clean, comfortable and well laid out with a view from the balcony of the surrounding hills and trees. The food is outstanding with a fresh breakfast, a La Carte lunch and dinner menu plus the added bonus of various wines / spirits available despite this being a wellness retreat - nothing beats a glass of rosé in the sunshine! Treatments and available yoga / Pilates / classes and experiences are excellent. There is a beautifully calm spa and swimming pool area with plenty of space for guests to come and go. Looking forward to booking my next visit. Thank you to all the team.

The calmness, super friendly staff, delicious food and very comfortable bed.

That the workouts - yoga etc. - all cost extra and at the steep price of 35€ per class.

Can't fault this place. Beautiful throughout. Food amazing, decor stunning, yoga classes were fab and I had an awesome massage in the spa. Our room was really spacious too. The place only has 15 rooms so it always feels very intimate and calm. There's a "sharing table" for those who want to chat at mealtimes but there's no pressure and you don't feel weird eating alone reading a book or just being. The staff are super friendly and bend over backwards to help you. This was my second visit and I hope to go again
