Hotel l'Octroi

Stayed 4 nights here with a friend in a room with a double and a single bed. Not a lot of space - no drawers but liked the air conditioning and the safe in the wardrobe. Decor a bit dark - brown walls but funky. Wifi good throughout the hotel but had to log in each time. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was 12 euros and lots to eat. Pool very small but a cool dip was very welcome after a day's sightseeing. Situation is very close to the Cité and maybe 20 minute walk to the main town. Lots of nice walking along the river and canal. We got the bus from the airport and got off too soon because we said rue Trivalle and the driver let us off at the Old Bridge. Rue Trivalle is long and we were at the wrong end! On the way back we got it at Cite Medievale. Good service as the bus services each flight. Lots of choice of restaurant in the old city. The best in our opinion was Four St Louis.

Fantastic hotel five minutes from the old town, ten minutes from the new town and only 20 minutes gentle walk to the station. The room was excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful and all of the communal areas were clean, tidy and inviting. The only thing that let the hotel down was the cost of breakfast, but you can find much cheaper food in the old town and have a fabulous outlook too! Overall we would highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect stay in a perfect city. Carcassonne is so beautiful that I decided to stay one more night. L'hotel Octroi was great but next time I'll try to stay in the old city.

Except for the size of the room, which was really really small for three people (we couldn't open our luggage), the hotel was nice.

The hotel is 5 mins from the station and about 10 min from the city centre, so well located. Our room was on the top floor, under the roof, so despite it being Spring and not particulary warm outside, the room was roasting at night with no A/C. This made it difficult to sleep, even with the windows open. I'd dread to think what it is like in Summer.

I like this hotel because it is very close to La Cite. I was upgraded for free and moved our room to the Montmoncy. Aside from the room in orange, The room is really small and bathroom is nice. The bed is comfortable.

Great location very close to, but not inside walls of medeival city. A good compromise of location vs. price. Don't trust rental car GPS to help you locate it rom the south. A city map would be better. Once my rusty French got us to the right part of town, GPS had no trouble. Parking free on the street was easy and seemed perfecrly safe.

This is a modern, slightly quirky, hotel situated just a few minute walk from the walled city. My room (double bed) was rather small but perfectly adequate, tastefully and brightly furnished, with a good bathroom. The bar is well stocked and all the staff are very friendly. Breakfast is OK but rather expensive for what you get; and there is private secure parking, albeit it at €10 a day. Given its location, you cannot grumble.

Great location, very close to Cite. Room decor very dark and room quite small. Asked if we had been given a lovely room - to be told all the rooms were the same (not true - some had balconies - ours didnt).

This hotel exceeded our expectations, value for money was fantastic. The staff were friendly & helpful. So close to the walled city. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to stay near walled city.
