Novotel Darwin Airport

Great spot for a stop over. Pool is fabulous as is the meals, waiting staff and atmosphere at the Pool House Restaurant.

As always reception staff assume you have stayed before, so they forget to tell you important details. For example Welcome drinks are on offer if you are a member of Accor and check your app ! and they don't emphasize that there is one central reception area for the Novotel, Ibis and Mercure. We stayed at the Novotel, and did not know the reception desk in that building is not manned. We waited patiently for assistance, and tried to get the attention of the Executive adjacent to the reception area. Luckily a very helpful hotel services member walking past us, told us to head back to central reception. In complete contrast, the executive adjacent this reception area, rather rudely closed her door and did not offer any assistance. She may need some retraining in customer service.

The pool and staff and location and parking ease

Not much variety for food. Overpaid for steak that was chewy and full of fat and barely anything else other than a smear of pumpkin mash. Bathroom shower curtains had mould and water went all over bathroom floor. Water stain in ceiling. Couldn't use the TV (no chrome casting). Limited access to internet. No amenities in the bathroom for the price we paid.

I loved the pool

There was a terrible odour in the room. I told housekeeping, and they sprayed the room, but it didn't really help at all.

Visited for lunch on 07/06/2026 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The restaurant was virtually empty inside, with only the three of us dining and just a handful of people seated outside. We ordered the beef burger and chicken parmy. I asked the server with long hair if they had any hot sauce or Tabasco available. He told me there was no hot sauce at all, so I requested some fresh chilli instead. What arrived was a dried chilli. When our meals came out, the chicken parmy was dry and burnt, and the chips were cold. I called the waiter back and asked if the chips could be replaced with hot ones. There was no apology, acknowledgement, or customer service whatsoever. He simply took the chips away and returned with a new serving, displaying a very snobby attitude throughout the interaction. What made the situation even worse was seeing the waiter and chef laughing together in the kitchen afterwards, which felt extremely unprofessional. The management standards seem to have gone significantly downhill since the changeover or appointment of the new restaurant manager. We frequently stay and dine at this hotel, so we've seen firsthand how much the experience has changed, and unfortunately not for the better. This review should serve as a wake-up call to hotel management. Loyal guests notice these changes, and the difference in service and food quality is becoming very apparent.
