Horrible reception staff. A part paymentvwas pending even after making payment at 6 pm and sharing the screen shot that was not satisfactory he called me after 10pm to say we have not recd the payment. This is the 1st hotel that takes 100% payment in advance and we need to give a deposit to settle our inhouse bills if any. I was asked to make another payment. After a span of 2 days i recieve a conformation that they had recd tge payment. But the payment will take a weeks time for refund. Even 1star rating is too high for them.

Location is good but smell of fish is horrible

**Rating: ★☆☆☆☆** The Retreat Hotel & Convention Centre is far from a 5-star experience. Hygiene and service were major letdowns. At the Chinese restaurant, I witnessed waiters preparing drinks by handling fruits like pineapple and watermelon with bare hands, dropping them on the bar counter, picking them up again—still with bare hands—and placing them on glasses without tongs or gloves. One even dipped his hand in a water bucket and wiped it on his uniform. I left my meal halfway—it was disturbing. The welcome drinks were left open in glasses near the reception, fully exposed. The food was no better: the fish was not fresh despite my request, the chips were soggy, and tea was sent to the room without even a cookie. During breakfast, I found a small stone in my omelet—staff brushed it off as "uncrushed black pepper" even though it hurt my tooth. We booked 3 rooms on the 4th floor, and the key cards kept failing. After shifting to another room, the door was so tight that even staff struggled to open it, but no solution was offered. The intercoms barely worked, making even internal communication a headache. The reception ended up calling our personal numbers instead. We were also denied access to complimentary high tea simply because we didn’t book directly—ridiculous for staying guests. I raised all of this to multiple managers, but got the usual fake smile and “we’ll look into it” with zero action. Definitely not worth the price or the star rating they advertise.
