Elounda Island Villas

This was a lovely property -- I can't say enough good about it and the proprietors. They were *lovely* -- some of the nicest people we met in Greece, and that's saying a lot. We had breakfast at their on-site cafe every morning, and it was utterly delicious. All of the beaches on this little peninsula are delightful, each in its own way. It was so quiet and lovely, but easily accessible to town right across the causeway. I would come back here in a minute, even though this was not my favorite area of Crete. I would come back to eastern Crete just to stay here! Two small notes of caution -- our villa had pretty steep steps, so would not be appropriate for little children or the infirm, and also, it was quite hot when we were on Crete. I slep like a log without A/C -- we were right on the ocean, after all -- but my husband and son who are typical Americans, used to icy-cold air conditioning, had a little trouble getting to sleep. Of course, it cools down substantially over the course of the evening. Well worth it, in my opinion. Two thumbs up for these guys.

Great experience. Unique concept of small villas by the sea. Amazing service and great food. Reasonable price and overall a fantastic experience. The in-house cafe is great. Walking distance there are 2 fantastic beaches.

Elounda Island Villas are directly opposite the town of Elounda. The villas are located on an island accessed via a causeway. Lida who manages the site has created a beautiful sanctuary in this stunning bay. Imagine eating breakfast in the small taverna on site looking directly at Elounda Bay. The villas are built and decorated in Cretan style. If you want chintzy luxury, don't come here but if you want a totally chilled out experience with first class personal service, do come here. This is our second visit and we will be back.

Elounda Island villas are idyllic and in a beautiful peaceful location. Ours was lovely and clean with a balcony overlooking the sea. Lida who runs the place is an efficient and charming host as well as an artist. Her mother cooks beautiful food in the little cafe which is open from 9-6. Snorkelling from the small beach right outside was great for seeing fish and also the remains of the ancient city of Olous. The Kanali taverna nearby is good and there are plenty of others a short walk away across the causeway in Elounda.
