Morena Resort

Hele fijne en rustige accommodatie.

The resort itself is very beautiful and the location is great, but it is an eco resort. So there is no blow dryer, no handsoap in the bathroom or kitchen, no hair conditioner, and ac only in the bedroom. The property is beautiful but come prepared.

nice location, good housing, three simmingpools and on walkingdistance from shops and more important: the sea and the beach; driving a car is quite usefull; eating is fine and the bar and specially the personal are great

Beautifully landscaped and designed eco-resort with chic rustic style; it seemed to have more authenticity/character/style than many other resorts we saw in the area. The main reception/restaurant area and the pools are gorgeous! It’s about a six minute walk downhill to the Jan Thiel Beach area, which is very nice and has a lively party scene on weekends, but keep in mind that Jan Thiel is a highly developed beach that can be a bit loud/crowded at times, so depending on your interests that could be a positive or a negative (it’s not a postcard-perfect natural beach setting like you see on other parts of the island). We really appreciated the hotel’s emphasis on sustainability, and we thought the food at the restaurant was fabulous. It also seemed like a great choice for families, with a kids menu and one of the pools designated as a family pool. Overall, a very comfortable stay and a great choice if you are looking for a unique, stylish, and eco-conscious hotel on the east side of the island.

No soap in the bathroom, but that was not a big deal. Jan Thiel was not our favorite beach, but it might be perfect for people who want an easy beach experience with plentiful amenities!

Clean, nature, different pool, quiet and very relaxing.

Only downside was the frogs and cockroaches in the toilets/shower. Every night.

Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt. Nettes Personal. Apartment super mit 2 Schlafzimmern. Selbstversorgung hat uns ausgereicht, da Küchenzeile vorhanden. Parkplätze (abends bewacht) reichlich vorhanden. Pools sauber und gepflegt. Bis zum Jan Thiel geht zu Fuß oder mit Auto, da dort auch ausreichend Parkplätze. Also Hotelgast ist dieser Strand kostenlos. Alles perfekt.

We zijn voor de 2e keer bij Morena verbleven en het was wederom heerlijk. We komen graag snel weer terug!

This is not a resort, it is more like a glamping. Upon arrival we requested some measures against musquitos since there is currently a dengue outbreak on Curacao and we are travelling with 2 little kids. They basically told us “it’s part of the island”. Fine, but you could at least provide us with mosquito nets and bug spray. Mosquito nets were indeed provided, which we had to hang ourselves and were firstly told “to bring our own”, one day before our arrival when I requested them. Anyway, they did provide the nets, but it had several holes in them. The “villa” which is more like a bungalow, is OPEN. You can not shut windows/doors completely which ofcourse welcomes mosquitos and other bugs. We were welcomed by our bedrooms full of mosquitos and cockroaches upon arrival. With a baby crawling around, this was horrible. We were told cleaning was every 3 days. I asked them to at least come everyday to vacuum/mop since we have a baby and with the bugs. 1. They don’t use a vacuum since they’re “eco”. 2. We were told no because they are eco. The outdoor patio is wood and had splinters, again, not safe with 2 small kids. In the “livingroom” you have outdoor furniture which was hard and uncomfortable. We didn’t even want to hang there with lights on bc of the open system and bugs. The shower runs on a push button which only runs for about 20-30secs a time, which is really annoying when you take a shower, let alone your kid takes a shower. Upon arrival being greeted by mosquitos and cockroaches, we decided this was not the “resort” for us and told them so. We left after a few days to stay at another resort for the remaining of our holiday, that’s when our vacation really started. We ask for a financial “meet in the middle” but got completely declined. Not even a sorry or a small compensation what so ever. Eventhough I think we were great guests considering we fully paid for 3 weeks and only stayed 6 days, rented our car via the resort incl extra insurance and booked our airport transfer via the resort, they did nothing to make us feel “good”. I will say, front desk staff, even though not helpful in compensating, were quite nice. Restaurant staff not so much. Food was tasteful, except for breakfast, which was minimal.

Mooie huisjes in een prachtige natuur. Loop afstand van supermarkt en strand met vele goede restaurantjes. Op het resort meerdere mooie zwembaden die afgelopen week erg rustig waren (voldoende vrije bedjes).
