"We Would Stay There Again!"

8.0

This is one of the oldest hotels in Tana, but it is very well kept. In addition to the main building it has an annexe which is more modern and has air-conditioning. The hotel restaurant is superb. The food is absolutely great, and the service is very friendly. On the whole, our stay was very pleasant. We actually stayed there twice during our trip to Madagascar. We would certainly go back and stay there again.

"rustic colonial french hotel"

10.0

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Not pricey but super nice. Bit far from the airport, so if you only have one night in Tana- its not for you. Otherwise it was great. Their food was also much better than anything around...

"Great affordable stay!"

8.0

Great affordable room with a unique Antananarivo view. Watch out for mozzies at night, so prepare with smoke coils etc. it can be a little noisy at times, with afternoon traffic and commotion.

"Ideal place to stay in Tana"

8.0

Excellent value for money, clean and good shower. Staff were great, although not conversational in English. The restaurant was very nice, and very reasonably priced. I would recommend it!

"Fantastic French Restaurant,Hotel clean and good"

8.0

The restaurant is excellent and compared to similar restaurants in the UK very good value. The Hotel is situated up a side street but still gets a fair amount of foot and road traffic,so is noisy when you have a room overlooking the street as we had.The rooms are nicely furnished, clean and have a good supply of hot water. The large patio windows over looking the road could do with blinds or privacy curtains as they are very exposed to the activity outside .The staff are generally friendly and we managed to get by without speaking any French. The two owners are very different one is exceptionally helpful and friendly and helps with advice.

"Just perfect!"

8.0

We stayed there in Jan 2012 and were happy to have discovered it! It is a small hotel right in the center, but very quiet as well since it is located in a small street were many ministries are--which means the area was very safe. It is also very close to all the funky shops of the city and restaurants. They did a great job renovating the building and taking advantage of all its original features. Service was always outstanding from the cleaning service to the doorman. However, the highlight of this hotel is the food. For the evenings we spent in Tana, we were extremely happy to dine at the hotel's restaurant and we were surprised each time. Overall this is a highly recommended hotel if you are spending some days in Tana.

"Good Value for Tanna But Mixed Feelings"

6.0

Given standard room on arrival despite having booked & paid for deluxe room thru hotels.com (attic room claustraphobic & smoky with smoke rising from bar). Deluxe rooms much nicer in block across street, with small modern shower room.(unpleasant 'sewagey' smell from adjacent park to deluxe room block, though cannot smell once in room). Service definately not with a smile (we booked specific room on couple of occassions only to find it was not available when we arrived), staff at breakfast and in bar not friendly. Hotel seemed to favour french speaking guests. Having said that, and accepting that Tanna is what it is, the deluxe room is very good value for Tanna and we did return several times during our stay in Madagascar, and strangely enough would go back but only if deluxe room available & prices remained low. Restuarant is excellent and well attended for lunch and dinner, very reasonably priced for food and wine, and friendly professional staff. (can get full for dinner, so reservation might be wise)

"Qualified redirection elsewhere"

6.0

Recognizing that Antananarivo is what it is and that you get what you pay for, we wouldn't recommend this hotel for couples or families unless you hide in your room after dark. Excellent staff and service but questionable and/or unprofessional behaviour by management including towards staff. While paid staff was as helpful as they could be- one wait staff does speak decent enough English- management was less than helpful. We've stayed in many hotels from 2 stars to 5 and know what to expect at each but this is our first non-recommendation.
