"Very basic for the price "

4.0

Better options in the area. This place doesn’t have a boutique hotel feel about it at all. It lacks soul. The staff seemed mostly disinterested. It wasn’t running anywhere near full capacity. Lots of staff but no one coming around the pool asking if you wanted drinks. We went inside to order. The “canteen” that passes for a restaurant and doubles up as a breakfast room is a really depressing place. We ate here the night we arrived, it was late and no other options. Food was awful. Fish so salty that you couldn’t taste it. Vegetables were very over cooked. But I guess for R$59 (£13) a head for the 3 course option what can you expect? The “other” menu consisted of burgers, pizzas and other fried stuff. 1 salad option! Glasses we left outside at breakfast we’re still there at lunchtime. Seems like a real lack of supervision and management. It just felt like a lifeless budget hotel. Even the cups they supply in the room are polystyrene, I’ve only ever encountered that in a hostel. Two herbal tea bags offered. The room isn’t a place you want to spend a lot of time. However it was clean. In fact the only person who we really saw doing any work was the cleaning lady. Pool area is ok, although the pool is small and located on the corner of a relatively busy road. WiFi is mostly useless, especially inside the room. You definitely won’t be able to stream even music. Prepare to feel frustrated. Breakfast was good. Location is great for the beach of João Fernandes which is a small and crowded beach. To get anything decent to eat around the hotel you need to take an Uber into town. Not far. We ate at Mistico, superb. Their hotel is Abracadabra, really wished we’d paid a bit more and stayed there instead.

"AMAZING PLACE TO VISIT."

10.0

AMAZING experiance in a amazing place to visit. JOÃO FERNADES is a beautifull beach in BUZIOS, very quiet and you can go walking to RUA DAS PEDRAS at night. THE HOTEL is amazing, a very good food and a beautifull pool and rooms are perfect place to travel.

"The noisiest hotel ever..."

4.0

Now, having to complain about noise on one night of one's stay is bad enough but on all three nights is totally unacceptable. Booked to enjoy a couple of quiet days on the coast after Buenos Aires-where I got mugged- and Rio, the Rio Buzios Boutique Hotel was a huge disappointment. Being on the beach should have been enjoyable, but the noise levels were seriously oppressive. Meanwhile the hotel facilities-restaurant and bar were so poor that one was forced into the bars on the beach just opposite. So, the first night it was the noise from the roads that were on all sides of the hotel and the roaring of beach buggies and motorbikes. The second night, it was the staff on the reception desk who seemed to think that carrying on a loud conversation through the night in a reception area that echoed all round the corridors would aid the sleep of the guests. The third night it was the guests in the next door room whose noise of various types-I won't go into too graphic detail-penetrated through the paper thin walls. This hotel might look the business, but in our experience, certainly fell remarkably short!

"Great split level rooms for families of four"

8.0

We stayed in a ground floor room which had a split level to a sleeping areas with a double bed upstairs and two singles downstairs. Perfect for our family. The hotel is situated right on the beach and also has a quiet seating areas around a small pool and jacuzzi. The staff were friendly and helpful though limited in speaking English. The breakfasts were outstanding. Fresh fruit, pastries and cooked food including omelettes to order. It is about a 20 minute walk to the main restaurants situated on the Briget Bardot plaza. Some might see this as a nuisance but it was a pleasant walk and without doubt the beach by the hotel is the best for relaxing and swimming on. There was a fitness room but the equipment was tired. The sauna wasn't working. There were very few people staying in the five days we were there. I'm not sure if this is because it is winter but the weather was glorious and the sea plenty warm enough to swim in. I imagine if you are visiting at this time of year you would get a much better standby rate that we paid in advance from the UK

"Dissapointing"

4.0

We booked 4 nights at Rio Buzios Hotel in January 2016. The pros: * Room was small, but clean and the bed was comfortable. The cons: * The biggest negative was that we (as a gay couple) felt uncomfortable staying at this hotel. We are both well travelled and have stayed at many, many places globally and in Brazil where we have been made to feel completely at ease. This was not one of those places! There was a general feeling of not being welcome, particularly with the night staff on reception at the hotel. On one evening we invited a friend of ours who was travelling with us and staying at a neighbouring hotel to come for a drink on our balcony. We received a phone call from reception which made us feel like criminals and very bluntly asked us to remove our guest from the premisses. For the rest of our stay at the hotel we received "dodgy" looks from hotel staff who made us feel extremely uncomfortable. As a result result we ended up leaving two days early without even requesting a refund. The hotel staff did not ask why we were leaving early. By comparison, the room next to us had a party with 4 visitors in their room until midnight. We complained but the hotel staff did nothing about it, simply telling us that they are "Russian" - apparently that (as well as being straight) makes it ok. (The staff did not verify that the party goers next door were guests). * I would go on to mention the terrible tours that the hotel pushed on us, but I am out of characters!!

"A very nice little hotel"

8.0

We stayed at the Rio Buzios Boutique Hotel for two nights (husband/wife/2 preteen children). We had a two level room, with two single beds downstairs and a queen bed upstairs, which was great for our family. The beds were not wonderfully comfortable, but no real complaints. The wifi was okay, but a little weak. The hotel restaurant served a very good breakfast. The pool was fine. The hotel is a very short walk to a nice beach, and the main shopping area was a healthy 20 minute walk away.

"Excellent hotel"

10.0

I was just there for the second time in 2 years and had an amazing experience both times. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The staff will assist you with whatever bookings you need, be it a boat ride, snorkeling, scuba diving, etc. Always warm and always with a smile. The location is incredible. Steps from Praia Joao Fernandes and a 15/20 minute walk to restaurants and shopping. Without a doubt, I will book this hotel again on my next visit. And I will be back. One of the most beautiful and relaxing places I've ever been.

"Not Impressed"

4.0

Luxury hotel options are limited in Buzios so it was difficult to make a decision on where to stay. Unfortunately I made the wrong choice with Rio Buzios. Getting to Buzios from Rio was quite a long trip, over 3 hours by private transfer. First impressions of the hotel were underwhelming to say the least, very basic lobby area with no wow factor. The rooms were below average, small and dark. They had the most unpleasant smell which we were told was from the type of wood used. The hotel is situated quite far from the main area where all the restaurants, shops etc are. We rented buggy's for our 4 day stay to get around the area which I would recommend. There are plenty of beautiful beaches to explore around the island however the weather in December wasn't great and I'm sure there are sunnier times to visit. Buzios is a very vibey and cosmopolitan destination and I would highly recommend it however Rio Buzios hotel is not the place to stay.
