Horsley Lodge Hotel

For our needs the location was perfect. The welcome and very helpful staff was special. Breakfast was acceptable but would have liked a choice of cereals or fruit.

Rooms are looking a bit dated now

Very nice location near Horsley village. The room was clean and adequate for my 3 night stay. I was over from Vancouver Canada … so i was not best pleased to arrive in Derbyshire to find it blanketed in Snow… lol The staff were friendly and helpful and i would recommend staying again. If you feel the meal choices are limited there are other options near by for food. I had no issue with the options available at Horsley Lodge The golf course is challenging and will be in splendid shape in a few weeks as the greens have recently been punched, dressed and brushed, they were a bit bumpy due to the agronomy being looked after I hope to return again later in the year

Staff excellent. Accommodation excellent. Winter season sees no chefs in the kitchen after 4pm, so watch out for that. A wonderful stay, I will absolutely return every time I am in the area.

Amazing place with great views and lovely rooms. Will definitely book again.

Really lovely quirky cottage

Lovely setting in out-buildings of a golf club. Arrived on a cold, dark night having been called during the day to discuss arrival time as the reception closes early at this time of year. They explained how to find the room, which was in a cottage behind the main hotel and next to the driving range, and that the key would be in a keysafe the wall. This was all good and the room was spacious with a very modern bathroom with bath and separate shower/wet area. The king-size bed was comfortable but as it was two singles pushed together there was a noticeable drop in the middle. Had a good nights sleep and in the morning realised there was also another room at the back which was basically a conservatory with small sofa, tv and tea/coffee making facilities...shame I only found this as I left! No option for evening meal as the bar closes early (4pm) so had to go out for that, but lots of pubs close by. Breakfast was included and was in the main bar restaurant area overlooking part of the golf course. Freshly cooked food rather than a buffet style and very nice. Overall a decent stay and the staff I met were friendly and helpful. I could not find details of the password for the wifi, and the lack of an open reception on arrival was a bit unusual but this was mentioned when booking and they did deal with this in a proactive way. I would happily stay again, especially if the weather is better and I can enjoy a few holes of golf as well.

This is a lovely place but what a shame I was not warned in advance that in the Winter the restaurant shuts at 4-00 pm, the bar at 6-00pm and to gain access after then you have to access a special code door!

Got married here ten years ago so special to us, always nice to revisit. Stayed in the Salt suite this time, fab room, loads of space. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Staff very friendly.

The staff were exemplary. The food was good and it get full marks for cleanliness.
