The Westin Guadalajara

Overall a great place to stay. The bed is wonderful

The shower leaks really bad. We complained and someone came to fix it, he said he would be back and never came back.

Love and enjoyed my stay

The Westin is usually a reliable brand but not this time. We arrived at check in and were told that the water was to be shut off for a few hours the following day at 11:00 for “maintenance.” (Odd that there was no warning about this when we booked online). A few hours of maintenance work turned into one day with no electricity and two days with no hot water. We were told we could go shower at the Barcelo next door…… On the afternoon of check in we headed to the Grill and Vine to eat. We were shown to a table and then it was like we were invisible. We had to flag someone down to get drinks, order and clear dishes that sat empty in front of us. Odd as we were the only table in the restaurant. We gave the restaurant another try with room service that night. We ordered grilled tuna and vegetables off the Eating Well menu. The tuna was not fresh and was obviously previously frozen with a poor odour. Another failed meal. We did however try them for breakfast the day we checked out. Our food was good and fresh and the service was great.Needless to say for dining, most of our meals during our four day stay were taken at the Barcelo next door where we had great food and amazing service. Now onto housekeeping. We are not fussy people. We even make our own bed at hotels. That being said is it too much to ask to get proper towels and toiletries replenished in the room? Every day we had to go to the front desk and request something that had not been placed in the room. Face cloths, body lotion and you name it. Lastly on our final night we were kept up until 01:00 hours by a party next door. 4 calls to the front desk to try to get the party ended. Not sure why in a very empty hotel they placed visitors in side by side rooms. Also not sure why after the second attempt by security to stop the partying the customers were not removed. Two areas of the hotel did meet the Westin standard: the bed and linens were very comfortable and the gym was amazing to use on the days we had power. All in all we will not be returning here when we are in town. On the whole the experience was an epic fail and did not live up to what one expects with the Westin brand.
