Liss Ard Estate

The surroundings, the peace and quiet.

Food was very good and the room in the main house was lovely if slightly cramped (Room3). Staff were lovely and very helpful.

Nothing .

We were due to stay two nights but left after one (wasting €383.61 for the second night in the process - which gives you an idea of the extent of our dissatisfaction with it). On leaving early, the staff never even asked why we were going early or whether we’d enjoyed our stay! You can stay in a lot better for this kind of money but it needs to be in a hotel which is run properly.

It was very clean. We loved the nature around it.

Not enough signs. One of the paths was closed.

The staff are extremely friendly and do whatever is possible to assist their guests to enjoy their stay. The property is also very clean, hygiene standards are high. We enjoyed our stay, it's a very calm environment. But we probably wouldn't return for reasons outlined below.

The food from the restaurant is poor and way overpriced. The chef has an ego his cooking can't cash. No vegetables or potato with the main course, they were only a €12 side! The starter courses were way too salty, our table and the table behind us made a complaint about too much salt. Unfortunately our room was located in the lakehouse, however when we entered the room we saw no lake! We were advised at reception that we need to specifically advise that we wanted a lake view, to which we responded we didn't know we weren't getting one until we arrived!
