"Beautiful building inside and out Amazing scrambled eggs"

10.0

WOW! What a beautiful grade II listed Manor house. Its beautiful to look at from the outside and full of period features inside. There is good parking then you walk through an arch to the front door. A really warm and friendly welcome greets you. Each room is uniquely furnished and has its own history associated to its name. We stayed in The Heathcte Room located at the front of the building. The stairs are quite steep and dispite its age there wasn't too much creeking! The room was spacious and furnished in character with the property The huge wooden frame bed was really comfy. Refreshments and TV plus free wifi are also in room. The bathroom is modern and the shower was excellent. Hot breakfast food is preordered the night before and cereals, fruit and yoghurt are available. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with the most creamy fluffy scrambled eggs I think I've ever tasted! The property is set in beautiful grounds and clean throughout. I would highly recommend and revisit.

"An absolute gem of a place , as good as it gets with the bonus of superb food and hosting ."

10.0

First the exceptional , the hosting is faultless , from the welcome with directions to EV charger , to the check in and information re supper and breakfast . We had the Colonel room which is charming , overlooking the large grassed area to the front of the property , a good sized en-suite with all amenities and a spacious bedroom with seating area overlooking the front . We ventured down to the bar area after a little walk around the garden and field , where we were studiously ignored by the horses munching their evening hay . Paula served us drinks and happily chatted to us and all guests in a friendly and engaging manner answering queries and organising suppers . Our fellow guests were both first timers and regulars and I can absolutely understand why people return again and again . Supper was outstanding , we shared a charcuterie platter with easily the best variety of meats I’ve had anywhere . We both opted for the steak which was superbly cooked and had perfect pommes frites and vegetables . No room for supper sadly but we do plan to return , other guests equally enjoyed their choices and the dining room was filled with satisfied murmurs . Our bed though firm was very comfy with excellent quality linens and cloud like pillows . In the morning we woke to watch the bunnies on the front lawn and enjoyed a cup of tea before breakfast . Breakfast is preordered and you are utterly spoiled for choice , my husband had ( deep breath ) poached eggs , fried bread , tomato, mushrooms , black pudding , bacon and sausage it looked fabulous all great quality ingredients . I opted for poached eggs , mushroom and bacon with toast and it really was excellent . There are also yoghurts , fruit , fruit juices and croissant / pastries . Given the quality of both our stay and food it’s very reasonable . The added bonus of an EV charger was the icing on the cake ( you should book the charger beforehand in order to be sure it’s available, payment is via an app . We will definitely return , it’s en route to family , we usually do the journey in one but Rollestone is a wonderful reason to take a break .

This is a very charming space tailored to providing a quiet, cosy and comfortable stay. Steeped in history, this manor transports you back in time. The rooms are very comfortable, ensuring a deep rest. The restaurant serves an incredible french menu which was delicious and the attention by the host was top notch. I would definitely stay here next time im in these parts.

"Great little find"

10.0

We stayed overnight to break our journey on the way down to the ferry from Plymouth to Spain, as we had never visited Stonehenge. Although the decor is a little old it is a beautiful place, the hosts couldn’t be more obliging and both the evening meals and breakfasts were lovely. We would definitely stay again if we were visiting the area.

"Just go!"

10.0

Location - just outside Shrewton. Close to Stonehenge and Avebury Stones (separate review for the latter). Big car park with a farm next door so easy to park. Beautiful historic house. Ive been visiting the restaurant for years and decided I would treat myself to an overnight stay after weeding my friend’s garden over the weekend, who lives locally. The lady who booked me in was delightful and Lady Harriet was an enormous room with an enormous bathroom. I did want to sit out in the garden with a gin and tonic but I was so tired that it was a hot chocolate made from the supplies provided and biscuits! I had scrambled eggs and fresh salmon the next day - wow, I’m not sure how the scrambled eggs are cooked but these were the best scrambled eggs ever! Next time, I going to stay at the self catering units and pop in for breakfast and dinner. Just wonderful.
