"Luxury hotel."

10.0

It was a pleasure to stay at Nanny Brow. The hotel was perfectly situated for walking, shopping and dining. The proprietors Sue and Peter were perfect hosts and even sorted out a booking at nearby Zeffirelli's. The suite we stayed in was very clean and spacious and the luxury bathroom was just that. The breakfast was superb and the service excellent. A very pleasing experience.

"Idillic!"

10.0

From minute one we loved our stay. As soon as we arrived we were met at the door by the lovely Sue who owns Nanny Brow and her two gorgeous collie dogs. Sue gave us a full run down of what to expect from our stay, places to visit, places to eat and so much more. We were then shown to our room. We stayed in the room called 'Lingmoor', this didn't disappoint, the room was quite large, very comfortable with plenty of space, kettle and cups, a full array of tea blend choices and coffee too, bedside tables, good sized wardrobe and bureau and a table and chairs situated in the bay window aperture overlooking the beautiful countryside with freshly made Lemon Drizzle cake waiting for us on the table!.. heaven!! We had a massive En Suite with double sinks AND shower, all very well presented throughout. breakfast was well cooked to your exact specification, in whatever combination, not just a load of food under hot lamps. The staff were excellent and very polite too. Sue drafted us up a planner for one of our days to help with the sight seeing which was invaluable! As we aren't hardcore walkers we drove to many different places, like Keswick, Coniston, Grasmere, Tarn Hows, Kirkstone pass, Ullswater, Pooley Bridge and many, many more and took it all in with stopovers. Her planner saved us a lot of time and helped us to see much more than if we had just gone on a mystery tour! We would not hesitate to go back and would thoroughly endorse Nanny Brow to anyone staying in the Lakes.

"Peace and Tranquility.. If you want!!"

10.0

The Hotel is so warm and friendly. Sue and her husband will ensure your stay is a comfortable as possible and point you in the right direction to explore the Lakes. Sue bakes her own cakes and biscuits, which are left every morning in the room. Breakfast is something to look forward to. Definitely would recommend stay at Nanny Brow.

"Nanny Brow an outstanding stay."

10.0

Every element of our stay was excellent, we were arriving late, not a problem, breakfast was excellent quality, the house has been renovated to an outstanding level and is located in a breath taking location. The care and respect shown in renovating the house is extended to the customers. Little gestures like letting us use the room for longer and providing a sandwich as I wasn't able to make breakfast gave us faith that excellent customer service is alive and kicking at Nanny Brow.

"Elegant, comfortable hotel."

10.0

The hotel is very comfortable with large and elegantly furnished public rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were of outstanding quality. Furthermore, the hotel has a beautiful view of some the Lake District mountains. The weather was so good that we were able to savour these views from the comfort of the hotel's terrace garden. The setting was very peaceful too. We stayed in one of the lowest cost rooms (Rydal) and found it to be comfortable with a spacious modern bathroom. Each day there were complimentary slices of fresh home-made cake in our room. Wi-Fi was reliably available in our bedroom and the public rooms.

"A restful break in the Lakes"

8.0

The accommodation is in a beautiful situation and is a well preserved arts and crafts gem. The room - listed as a suite, was clean and comfortable with a well stocked tea/coffee tray, complete with home made cakes. The breakfast is served early and for only a limited time - 8.30 until 9.15. Practically, it is a 30 minute walk (8 minute drive) into Ambleside for many good restaurants and bars. Rather pricey for a B&B.

"Perfect!"

10.0

Absolutely lovely stay in an idyllic location. Enjoyed a beautiful walk, straight out the back of the B&B and up to ivy crag, then on to Elterwater. Also within easy reach of both Ambleside and Grasmere. Our room was stunning, the food was delicious and the staff were ever friendly - just perfect!

"Fantastic breakfast"

10.0

This is a very upmarket hotel/B+B. The highlight of the place (apart from the gorgeous countryside) was the excellent breakfast. We stayed for five nights and the food was consistently excellent. Don't miss the home-made jams and marmalade. We were also treated to home-made cake in our room in the evenings. Very naughty but after a day's walking - nice! A downside for some is the distance from town. It is about a mile and a half to walk, and with the local beer as good as it is the car is not an option. However it is also peaceful and the place is set in lovely grounds. All in all worth the extra cost to stay here.
