Falkensteiner Family Hotel Sonnenalpe

Geen voorkeur alles was top. Vriendelijk personeel je wordt als gast echt in de watten gelegd.

Perfekt für Familien. Super tolle Lage, sehr freundliches Personal, Zimmer sauber und das Essen war auch super für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Einfach alles Top. Sehr zum empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay up in the mountains, which was also helped by exceptionally good May weather - we had 5 days of blue skies and mid 20s temperatures. Apparently there had been significant snow as recently as mid May. We arrived by train from Klagenfurt, with a transfer up the mountain from Hermagor Station costing 50 euros. See my review of the B&B hotel Klagenfurt to replicate our twin centre stay and see Lake Worthersee. The hotel is lovely and located in the heart of Nassfeld that has several hotels, an Intersport and a few bars and cafes (mostly attached to hotels) that were just opening for the summer season. Rooms were entirely comfortable. We had 510 and 511 (note only 1 level up from reception). Both had large double beds with two single bedding sets. The TV featured France 24 in English. Food was great with a good choice at all meals. Hot and cold breakfast options, coffee machines, fresh juices etc. Lunch and dinner always featured soup, pizza, pasta and a choice of meat, fish and veg options. There is an all inclusive drinks menu including Aperol, white rum, vodka, wines and beer. There are also slushes and alcohol free choices and self service water and juice stations. We had an allocated table for breakfast and dinner. The local walking is great. We did multiple 5-7 mile ascents and routes around the local peaks. Use the Kamoot APP for detailed maps, but be mindful of the 'difficulty' rating - a 5 mile walk with steep climbs can take 4 hours. The pools (interconnecting) are nice, but not massive (and quite shallow) and often busy. The saunas etc are designated naked. The entertainment programme was fairly low key - we had bingo one night and a singer another night. There are two pool tables (2 euros per game). There are kids activities, including character 'Falky' photo opportunities, but our boys are now too old for that. Staff were hard working and friendly (their name badges indicate languages spoken). I'm struggling for negatives, but it's worth highlighting this is a family hotel so there were lots of children. Some might find the local area too remote / quiet, particularly as the summer season was just beginning. Our balcony deckchairs were also a bit weird and could only be used fully reclined. The resort card gives free access to a couple of chairs lifts, but they were only open one day during our stay. Our return transfer back to Klagenfurt airport was 220 Euros and took just less than an hour and a half. Would not hesitate to return at some point in the future.

Beim Essen wird darauf geachtet, dass für Klein und Groß was passendes dabei ist. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle durchwegs freundlich und hilfsbereit und haben stets ein Lächeln aufgesetzt. Hervorheben möchte ich vor allem Nina (SPA) und Edina (Bar)!
