Shiraraso Grand Hotel

Location : Direct access to Shirahama Beach. A very nice view. I recommend to walk just few minutes from hotel to see sunset. It was a very good experience. The hotel also located just 5-10 minute bus ride to tourist attractions such as Sandanbeki cave and Senjojiki rock plateau. Service : Staff were very friendly. Even they could not speak English very well, they tried to communicate as best as they can. Room : I stayed in the deluxe Japanese-style room with ocean view. The room was large, very clean and had a very different nice view in the afternoon, sunset, night and morning. Dining : Dinner was Japanese course of 13 dishes (Japanese hotpot, Abalone with choice of Sashimi or steak, Japanese lobster, etc.) and the taste was very good. The ingredient was fresh and obviously well chosen. The staff who served the dish was very polite and explained each dish very well. Onsen : I booked private onsen here and it was very relaxing. It was only 2160 yen for 45 minutes. Others : There is Yukata rental service in the hotel with a small fee. You can pick the one you like, wear it in your room, walk around the town and just leave it in your room before check-out. There is how-to-wear leaflet at rental counter for ones who don't know how to wear it.

Stayed a night in April. Airconditioning unit in the room shutdown automatically during the night and the room temp rose to 27 degrees c which woke me during the night and couldnt fall back to sleep. It was not possible to switch it back on. Very annoyed at the time Otherwise room was clean. Onsen on site was good too. Fairly close to attractions

How would you like dipping inside a hot spring spa while looking out at the ocean? The hotel is right next to the beach, so you can look out the window into the ocean. It has a spa at level 1 and another one at level 2, alternating for male and female, so you need to go in the morning and night to try out the two. The Japanese breakfast is nice too. If you like, you can also walk 10 minutes down to the restaurant street.

It is one of the best hotel. The view of the room is the beach. All the staff, including front desk, room services, restaurant are helpful.

Great service and onsen with a nice view. However, the cigarette smell was quite heavy when you walk through the corridor to the room. This didn't give good first impreasion. They alternate male and female onsen so as to let both gender to use the best onsen overlooking the sea. However they did not change the amenities used by the different gender. In addition, I happened to drop by the onsen before they close. I was still tidying up myself but a male staff suddenly came in, luckily I got my clothes back but that wasn't a nice experience. They should have asked their male staff not to come in as long as a female guest was still doing her last-minute cleaning. English communication is always a problem in Japan.

The best Japanese room we have ever stayed. Good onsen, especially one on the 2nd floor. Steps from the white beach.

we are assigned a room with tree view but later changed to one with seaview after lengthy request.

Stayed in a traditional Japanese room. Onsen is great - hot water with no chlorine added (or at least it was not noticeable) compare to other onsens. Beach is great even sand is imported :). There are not many trash bins on the beach which contribute to a lot of plastic rubbish and cigarette butts left on the beach. I will definitely come again some day.
