L' Auberge de Maison Rouge

Tres bel hôtel. Bon rapport qualité prix. Tres bien situé. Chambre et salle de bains tres fonctionnelles. Tres bon petit déjeuner sucré salé.

The hotel was excellent installation, the room and general areas are very clean, the owners were excellent anfitrión. Also the restaurant have an excellent menu.

Excellent séjour ! Des hôteliers accueillants, (pas comme à Paris), sincères, calmes, qui s'occupent de leurs clients. L'hôtel est doté d'un restaurant remarquable (cuisine du sud-ouest... pas savoyarde !) où nous nous sommes régalés. Le meilleur rapport qualité-prix que j'ai trouvé depuis bien des années. A Paris (pour comparaison), on trouve la même chose mais à 4 ou 5 fois plus cher, et sans cette qualité d'accueil.

The good: This hotel has been stylishly decorated (in the fashion of Vogue living c.1999), and has a restaurant. They also have a small gourmet food store in the lobby. The bad: It is in the middle of nowhere. They lie about this on their own website and listings elsewhere, claiming to be 5km from Geneva. This is not remotely true. To get to Geneva takes over an hour and 2 buses. The ugly: We stayed there for several nights in 2 rooms. The staff treated us like an inconvenience. One evening I asked if I could borrow a corkscrew (I had bought some wine in town). Marie-Laure flat out refused. She offered to SELL me one. For €5. Given that we were spending upwards of €1200 during out stay there, being cheapskated like this was insulting. Likewise: in each room they have an espresso machine (with milk frother!) which is a nice touch. But when we asked for milk, their first response was that they could SELL a litre to us. This all added to the sense that we were not "GUESTS" but an annoyance to the owner, and that they were trying to gouge us at every turn. They are charging rates for a high end boutique hotel, but not offering anything like the service I'd expect in this price range.

Seduced by the online pictures of the establishment, we knew it may not be as nice once there. What a fabulous suprise to discover it was even better. Not only are the room decorated with taste, but they are very spacious and the beds very comfortable. This was the first night during our trip where I didn't wake up with a backache. The owners are very friendly, courteous and attentive to your needs. We had dinner at the restaurant and were in awe about the decor, enjoying every quirky detail and the splash of colors. The food was outstanding and homemade with fresh ingredients, which is becoming rare in France unfortunately. We can't wait to go back!

Zeer mooie en propere kamer. Vriendelijk personeel. Fijn en rustgevend verblijf.
